Undertale. Thankfully, I played it right before everybody started flipping their shit about it, since I played the demo a while ago and thought it was supposed to be some kind of horror game for some reason, which made me go into it totally blind. Earthbound is otherwise the best pixel RPG I've ever played, and Undertale is literally Earthbound, but more linear, with better pacing, and with combat that isn't just stupid JRPG/Pokemon battle combat - three HUGE improvements. Fallout 4 was also fun for a while, but got old once I hit 40 hours or so, as there's nothing really left to discover.
Bloodborne would definitely be my GOTY if I had a PS4. I started playing Dark Souls and DSII this week, and I literally can't stop playing them. It hasn't been this easy for me to play a game for 10 hours straight since I was a kid. The series just fits my idea of a perfect game: linear, but with opportunity for exploration, hub world that changes subtly over time, tight controls and satisfying combat that requires some dexterity/precision, lore/story that leaves room for imagination and requires nothing other than a simple, grand objective, super immersive atmosphere, etc.
Also, I was looking forward to Xenoblade Chonicles X because I thought it looked cool, so I played Chronicles and it's one of the least fun games I've ever played. It was so bad that the buyer's remorse literally made me sell my 3DS on Ebay.

This year was pretty shitty as far as I'm concerned. Only had 3 games I really got into this year.

Was my first From game, initially hated it but gave it a fair chance half a year later and ended up liking it. Not loving it, and it hasn't sold me on Dark Souls 3, but it was still fun.

Yeah, it has major flaws and shit, focuses on style over substance, and I think more highly of 3 and NV, but there's something to be said about a game that I played for hundreds of hours within just a couple of weeks.

The game should've launched with its 5 monsters and 20 hunters right from the start and was definitely starved for modes, but even so, I could personally get around their shitty business practices and really enjoy myself with that game. Unless the fucker chose to be the Kraken.
I guess if I had to pick two more to round it out to a smooth top 5, I could throw in Rocket League and MGSV as honorable mentions. Like I said, not really a good year.
