I've had an old PC which I never upgraded since 2000. Games that were released in 2004 onwards were too much for it and I couldn't play any newer titles. In 2011 I've finally was able to afford a new computer which I use to this day.
Fuck man, do some basic freelance work and earn money that way. That's what I did and I wish my social retardation wasn't so far gone and looking back I definitely would've done it much earlier.

I'm Australian, so for a 23 year old 17.50 is slightly above minimum wage, after 3 months it's up for 20 bucks an hour.
I still live with my nan, but in a seperate house on the property paying 150$ a week for everything, internet, electricity water etc.
Families are there to support each other nigger, and I'm looking at upgrading my HD7850 rig to a 970 sometime soon. That or just buy a PS4 because my rig runs most games at 30-40fps. Might just upgrade the video card.

I played nothing but old classics (pirates of the caribbean licensed game was fucking amazing), until my folks bought me a PS3 and MW2 for christmas (I was 16 so I was a little faggot), and it wasn't until I turned 18, moved out and built my own PC that I realized just what I was missing out on, and then I fucking turned into the "45+fps or no play" crowd.
