You know, all Pixy had to do was run away, or at least not charge at Cipher. He only needed a few minutes to complete his mission, and then he could fight Cipher at his leisure. Of course, he was probably half insane at that point, so his aggressiveness does make sense. I'm actually kind of surprised he had enough self-preservation left to eject, because he seemed pretty despondent.
You boys need to grow up and start playing some proper flying games.

I agree. What's fun about Ace Combat isn't just flying a jet, but also the story, world, atmosphere, music, etc. Hardcore sims don't have that kind of emotion or soul.

Anyone here tried Vector Thrust? It's supposed to play a lot like Ace Combat. It's also apparently highly moddable. I wonder if anyone will try to recreate Ace Combat campaigns in it. I know some people have already made plane paint schemes from the AC games.

Not really, he only realizes his mistake and that he's in way over his head when he sees the would-be results after he crashed and saw people living in the area around the nuke sites still trying to live their lives.
The guy probably just wanted to fight his buddy before all went to hell with V2 and was too caught up in the moment before he was thrown the cold water on his face.

Combat is pretty fun and the planes look really nice. Most of the other graphics aren't fleshed out at all, though, and the only thing resembling a campaign is five or so missions with two or three voiced lines. Plus bugs and crashes out the ass, and a terrible UI
