Honestly if you don't do every side quest before moving onto the next chapter then I really don't have the heart to tell you any more. People rushing through the game are fucking cancer. I got Mia without any struggle by just going through the game naturally, completing Definian Downfall and picking her up right after.
If you're past chapter 11 and have 65%+ in Cauldros you really shouldn't need me to tell you what to do, you should have already done it. It's a major quest chain and extremely hard to miss considering it pops up on the BLADE board.

I completely missed all of Mia's sidequests because I never hit her second quest until long after the fact because I finished exploring all of Noctilum before I hit the trigger that causes that quest to appear. You can hire other people's character, because you know people will want to do that when they have 18 characters to raise affinity with.
Every now and then Squad Tasks pop up, gather this, kill x of that, kill tyrant,etc and when one is complete you can do a squad mission with other players. Short little battles that suck because some level 60 guy with Ares 90 will join and just one shot everything while you stand there.
Atleast you get heaps of enemy drops, like legs, pincers,etc
