Combat is kind of like grid combat except without the limitations of a grid. Attacks are either single-unit, or area attacks either attached to a unit or moving freely on the battlefield. There is a linking system where, if your character's attack gets an enemy off balance, then another character can interject immediately and attack as well without using a turn. It's more fun and also feels more seamless than the original system, so it should be enjoyable. There are other considerations like hitting enemies from behind on the world map before a battle to stun them and then going into the battle with an advantage. You'd really have to play it to understand it all.

Cutscenes tend to have them, and scenes like that one above that are triggered by something like a quest seem to too. Just talking to a random person will be normal.

I'm kinda impressed that this dub doesn't make me want to throw up in my mouth. Whoever they got to direct the dubbing seems to know that human beings emote when they speak. For all the talk Xseed does about really giving a genuine shit about this series I think this release really shows it especially after scarping SC together in time.

I think it's actually pretty good. Everyone overall does a pretty good job. Rean is great, but him not talking when others are is a bit weird after the prologue. That's not their fault though since they couldn't add in any extra voiced lines that weren't in the Japanese version.
As a note I played Akiba's Trip 2 and tried to give the dub a chance but as soon as I heard the MC's sister after hearing Shizune I went straight for the Japanese voices and never went back.

I liked how it really felt like it was Estelle and Joshua on a journey together (with people coming and going), and the 3rd lacked the whole NPC thing which I really like about the series.
The 3rd's memory doors were great though. Out of the trilogy evo versions the 3rd is the one I want to play the most though.

FC is the first one that you are introduced when starting the series, and it does a good job of getting you into its setting. You could say that its nostalgia, but I still like FC more than 3rd.
