When the game is $2 or whatever, I honestly consider it less of a hassle to simply buy the game than to pirate it. But, whatever. You don't need to buy it, or have the Steam version, to play with each other.

Go into network play from the main menu. I have to host a game first, which I'm having trouble with. I can't seem to get connected, even after following the steps and port forwarding. Shit is so much more complicated than modern games.
If you could give me some more time and maybe get more people in here, I'll do my best to get a game going. Otherwise, I'll leave that responsibility to someone experienced.
