Play the GBA versions of 1-6, ignore the mobile and iOS versions
Emulate the PSX versions, playing eboots on psp is acceptable but has some bugs with cfw, FF7 & 8 are decent on steam better than the actual PC versions due to no input lag but have the 'I win button'
Play 10 & 12 on a PS2, emulating 12 is okay but I've encountered problems with 10
11 & 14 are optional but are good if you like MMOs
13 could be played on PC but is not worth the money at the moment to play the entire trilogy

Anyone who says the PS1 version of IV is terrible is a liar. I went in expecting load times everywhere and a garbage translation, only to find out there are no load times unless you are saving (which takes around a minute) and the translation is fairly decent for what it is.
