Why is this not a bannable offense? Why can't you just accept, that this is not how the world works?
>>
Look up 7 days to die. Someone with nearly 5k hours gave it a thumbs down for good reason.
>>

i also don't like working either and i spend 5/7 days doing that

>>

Just because you play it a lot doesn't mean it's good.

I have over a year in Runescape. Not "oh I played that game for a year" no, I have one year actually spent ingame doing shit, a solid 8760+ hours (and that's without botting, that shit's for casuals).

I hate the game. It is a bad game. But it is very addicting.

I'm more inclined to believe the man who played it for 2000 hours and in the end decided that he had made a horrible mistake.

you're an idiot or can't into analogy

no one is forcing these people to play these games for thousands of hours. They do it by choice, presumably because they are having fun with the game.

What OP is saying is, why would anyone invest thousands of hours into a game they overall didn't like?
>>

Because NEETs are stupid. They invest hundreds of thousands of hours of their own life into being a failure, so why would you expect them to do anything differently when it comes to games?
>>
>>321116527
Some games like Skyrim/Fallout open world games are heavily flawed but still great games to pass the time with/veg out while playing, so I'm guessing that's what's going on.
>>
>>321116143
>>321116010
ehh well, perhaps the brain makes dopamine or some other chemical while playing it?

I have thousands of hours into runescape too and I can agree its a fucking stupid game, now.
Perhaps I wouldn't have said that while I was playing the game (though I could only do so by deluding myself) but looking back I can honestly say its a bad game.

Though, runescape stands out for numerous reasons. For one its an MMO with a decently large community. And its also go super high levels and shit perfect for completionists. I don't see how anyone can invest 1000+ hours on a singleplayer game unless its some shit like Pokemon or they are doing multiple play throughs.

>people with less than 10 hours played leave reviews

Shouldn't be allowed to post a review until you have played at least 10 hours. Only exception is if it's for some 90 minute walking simulator.
>>
>>321116527
Could be the game is in early access and recent changes have fucked over the game or no progress has been done for a period of time. Think of Minecraft, it was loved on /v/ in the beta stages, the steady updates and surprise additions kept people happy, but then hunger was added and other negative changes along with long periods of nothing new started to drive people away. There are those who probably spent thousands of hpurs in the early beta that would not recommend people play the newest version for those reasons.

>>
>>321116890
>>321116983
Yeah, but that one anon's analogies don't hold water because no one is physically forcing these people into playing a game. Maybe if it was super expensive and they feel guilty for not getting the full experience but I don't thats the case for many. You don't just "catch" 1000 hour play times like you catch a cold.

>>321116998
This is also true. I've seen a lot of comments complaining about updates/bad ports. Most recent example for me is some free game called Robocraft. Apparently it had some update that ruined a lot of shit.
>>
>Games can never change after they are released

Patched, updates and DLC can change a game and peoples opinions of it. Online games especially. An update can fuck up the game entirely (and games in the past have had this happen).
>>
>>321117330
All the analogies in this thread have been terrible, it's simply a matter of self-hating NEETs doing things they hate because they like to punish themselves.
>>
Good games aren't long ever.
There's a lot of games I've played a lot and I think they are complete dogshit, they are just addictive or have a few thing you like while you bear the rest, by your logic cigarretes are the best thing fucking ever.
>>
>>321117287
That's often the case with mmo's that get bad reviews by people who have played them a lot. I think the subject of the previous thread that was this exact same topic a week or two ago was about a warframe review by someone with a ton of hours in it.

You're right that no one is forcing them, but they do it to review for potential buyers.
You don't ask someone who doesn't like beer what kind of beer is good do you?

I'd rather trust a negative review with 5000 hours than a positive with 1 hour.
>>
>>321117718

lots of people enjoy shitty stuff
>>

When in steam I always check the negative reviews.

With negative reviews its easier to tell the people who genuinely didn't like the game from the people who are shitters.

These fuckers put 2000 hours into a bad game because they're retarded, not because they're doing us a favor.
>>
>>321117330
Not recommended doesn't equal bad you autistic man.
You can play a game but realize it may have faults for others, or you can see it is heavily problematic but you still enjoy it even though you know many others won't. I thought this was painfully obvious, it simply means you wouldn't recommend someone should spend money on the game. You can like it, but others most likely won't.
This is what people don't seem to realize. Not recommended can mean a lot of things, doesn't always mean it's bad, you just need the context of the review which OP has failed to supply.
>>
>>321118051
You what? For about 8 years now I've been trying to Finish Fallout 3 (got like 60 hours in or something), which is an absolute turd of a game and I can barely stomach it, just so I can shitpost about it on /v/ more efficiently.
>>
>>321118051

Negative review doesn't necessarily mean "Wow this game was total dogshit and the world would be a better place if it didn't exist"

There are tons of reasons to leave a negative review for a game that can still be enjoyable
>>
>>321118214
But steam specifically uses the term "negative" which means "less than good"
>>
>>321118303
And that makes you dumb, m8.
>>
>>321118331
Again, we need the context of the review.
>>
>>321118051
No.
Curators or and people who just do reviews, literally do it for reviews.

Everyone else literally played 1999 hours and on the last hour they suddenly realize the game sucks, that's how most people get out of playing mmos, they realize it's either a waste of time or it legit sucks
I used to love tf2 and l4d2 but suddenly I just didn't like it

>>321115613
I dont understand what point you're trying to make. Why would this be a bannable offense? Someone with that many hours knows what they're talking about.

WHY they played that much is irrelevant.
>>
>>321118359
So you're saying you should be able to tell if games are good or bad before you finish them then? And people who haven't finished a game are an accurate sourcfe of reviews? Tell me exactly how many hours you need to play.
>>
>>321118331
And reviewers are given the option of recommend or not recommended.
If you don't recommend something, you don't recommend others to buy it, you still think it's good but you realize it's a bad game overall.
>>

Only that's different depending on the game you play.

An indie game might require 1-2 hours of playing it to properly judge it, a massive RPG that takes hours to finish might seem promising for the first 30 hours but begin getting repetitive/broken/uninteresting the closer you are to the end (or alternatively, it might require too much boring grinding to get to the good stuff; just because you played enough to get to the better part of the game doesn't make the rest of the experience you had less shitty).

A multiplayer game might be great during launch but become subjectively worse the more it's updated either because it took off to a different direction, the updates ruined the balance or the optimization went south. Just because you played hours before, doesn't mean it's still good and you should consider it as such.
