Any tips on getting this to run with an i5 and integrated graphics? I'm using the GOG version and getting the crash after character creation bug, I've tried windowed mode, updating my drivers, disabling soft shadows, changing CPU affinity, etc.

Kotor 2 has better extended class system so a bit more in the game mechanics department which should be expected from a sequel. I'd say the stories are about even. The big advantage 2 has is you can twist your companions alignments and make them jedis

I've had this exact problem before. It cannot and will not run on Intel integrated graphics. There is no fix. The technical term for this is "a bummer".
KOTOR works fine, but 2 did something that makes it not work at all past the intro, and I believe it has to do with how they did they movie sequences. However, I even tried disabling those and that didn't fix it either. I'm not sure what the root cause is, but I never could get it to work in a span of four years I messed with it. On the other hand, it works perfectly with no issues on my desktop computer that has a nvidia card.

It's frustrating cause I really like female MCs, and hoped Rey would be the MC, but the plot moved so fast, and was focused on the events, the characters simply wound up as flat conduits to advance the plot. Poe was the worst offender of this, literally reduced to being "deus ex machina: the character."
When Rey denied her call to action when offered the lightsaber, it not only broke her character really hard (as she's jedi obsessed), but it followed Campbell's A Hero's Journey so strictly, I literally groaned in the theatre. ZERO creativity, ZERO ingenuity, that movie is merely a formulaic product meant to market itself and make cash by appealing to the least common denominator at a very superficial level.
Look at the plot and the characters carefully, and it becomes evident there is no substance. I can't understand the genuine praise this peace of shit gets. I'd have thought GoT raised people's standards.
