I'm interested in all sorts of video games that allow me to explore space or fight in it. RTS, 4X, space combat, doesn't matter what it is, so long as it's in space.
I've played Independence War (both), TIE Fighter, X-Wing, Elite/Frontier, Homeworld (series), Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, Galactic Civilizations 2, Master of Orion, Star Trek: Armada, SW: Empire at War, Star Control, Wing Commander, Freelancer, Precursors, Privateer and... that's about it, I think. At least, that's what I can remember at the moment.
I'm already downloading Freepsace 1&2, so no need to recommend me that.
Also, feel free to use this thread for general discussion of all space-related video games.
Note, I'm just using this Star Citizen image because I like. I know absolutely nothing about SC and am not really interested in learning anything about it until the actual game is fully released, but the way I hear that's years and years away.
Well, just in case your mention of Star Control means the original Star Control, you definitely should play Star Control 2 (now open sourced and released as The Ur-Quan Masters).
you've played all the good ones and the genre is mostly dead right now
one hope yet remains

Yeah, I meant The Ur-Quan Masters.
Sorry, I should have been more clear on that.

Have to wait and see how that one turns out, but honestly, I'm not a big fan of 40k.
In the category of upcoming games, I'm probably looking forward to The Mandate.

Star Trek: Klingon Academy
Genesis Rising Universal Crusade. Pretty terrible game with a fantastic setting.
And the X series. Yes, even X Rebirth, fuck y'all.

>Genesis Rising Universal Crusade. Pretty terrible game with a fantastic setting.
Holy fuck, I remember that.
I think I played it right after I was done with Haegemonia: Legions of Iron.
Genesis was basically a HFY kind of thing, right? With organic tech?

I hope this game portrays warp travel correctly.
It involves tearing a hole in the fabric of reality, entering what is literally Hell, and then coming out of the other side. A jump where the ship ends up light years off course, your Navigator is permanently brain damaged, and only half the lower decks are filled with daemons is considered successful.
Somehow I doubt it.

Into the permabrig you go.

:^)
I've been playing Elite Dangerous a lot lately. I really, really like it. I'm 20 hours in and mostly I've been smuggling goods and tried some bounty hunting but I'm really terrible at the combat.
It is my first space game though, so recommendations would be apprecciated.

They use that same announcer for all of Focus Home games.

You do know that demotivational poster is mostly BS for the sake ot it?
Warp travel is nothing like that in Warhams 40k.
I just hope the game includes fighter/bomber squadrons and stuff. Not only because the Imperial Navy is rather monotnous without them, but also because they're fun to use as Eldar.
you should play Elite: Dangerous™ Horizons™! If you have the base game, you get 25% off! What a deal!

Oh right, I was wondering what that was about.

Nah, fuck that shit.
I have no interest in always online games.
