Code Talker's endless cassette tapes and Skullfaces awful dialogue and voice acting were much worse.
Really though the worst character in the game ended up being Ocelot. They managed to turn one of the most engaging and interesting characters in the series into a complete bore. But then again, that's kind of emblematic of TPP's design philosophy: take something that used to be fun and enjoyable, and suck all the life out of it until it's about as exciting as eating plain bread.

I can enjoy Alyx just a bit, she can be funny, and after all she is there to give the player high fives at every turn.
But what I do hate is the fact that she's always with you, really takes away from some of the atmosphere of the game. HL1 had great atmosphere because of how alone you almost always were and every meeting with a friendly was incredibly brief.
I also kind of dislike Alyx's personality of "spunky girl who grew up in a soul crushing world". She doesn't fit the setting, but then again, none of the main characters do. And in Alyx's defense, we see her anger and disgust towards the Combine the most.
