the character switching goes smoothly and the weaker character archetype still feels like an important element to the overal gameplay

Its meh honestly being 9 years from RE4 if this the best Capcom can put together its embarrassing.
Its better than REV1 in terms of gameplay, but REV1 has a better story, characters, art direction and atmosphere.
The only part I liked about REV2 were Barry and Natalia's interactions and the awesome good ending.
Clarie did not need to be in this game. If Moira wasn't gun shy Claire wouldn't be there at all. So I don't care for the jew tactic of "Claires back guys!"
REV2 is great. Mercenaries mode is also surprisingly fun although the community is now dead.

i thought it was really bad. artificial difficulty to the max. enemies always use this one attack where they can teleport to you and grab you from basically anywhere and gnaw on you a bunch of times for free, requiring a QTE. really obnoxious. also the Barry parts sucked, i hate that obnoxious Dead Space gimmick enemy.

It literally ruins the game for me. The bad end feels better since it doesnt go completely off the rails. The good end however is filled with plot holes, and overall retardedness
And worst of all how it is decided is fucking stupid if you're playing co-op. You're fighting this boss and suddenly both of you get a QTE prompt
WHO THE HELL WOULD SUDDENLY SAY "HEY LETS TRY THAT I DONT DO IT AND YOU DO IT"
The instinct is for both players to spam the shit out of the QTE and its a fucking coinflip

They've been trying too. No ones really accepted any of the new characters capcom has been introducing though. Apart from maybe adult Sherry, who isn't even a new character in the series.
No one liked Jake Helena or Piers or anyone from Revelations. Sheva has a smaller fanbase than Rebecca.

I liked RER1 a lot more, maybe because it was a pretty amazing thing to play on a handheld 3 years ago. I thought RER2 had some really good RE feeling moments, but it also had a lot of boring and tedious filler shit. Overall, it's a mixed bag, but worth playing through for RE fans.
I've thought of trading my copy in since I don't think I like it enough to keep it. But it's not bad enough to really get rid of.

Piers has a cult following, and not just among fagposters. It's one I can understand more than Helena's because her only good point is having ass. Meanwhile Piers has a good attitude, keeps his head on his shoulders and focuses largely on getting Chris back into the game instead of trying to get him to open up. I didn't hate Sheva, but on top of the unintended escort mission aspect she could be bland bordering on pointless. Someone to follow Chris around rather than work alongside him as a proper partner.
Speaking of partners, I think Claire and Barry are stronger in Revelations 2 for having sidekicks who aren't just like them but with a different melee moveset, which (if this makes sense) feels more important than the sidekicks' abilities. Playing solo feels less redundant because they don't simply feel like 'Player 2' characters who could carry the entire game themselves. Really liked the difference in weapons starting out too, with Barry starting loaded for bear and only finding a shotgun near the end of his content, while Claire never finds a sniper rifle at all.

She's not ugly. She just looks like a real person now, which isn't a bad thing. Silent Hill had been doing the realistic character designs way beforehand and they were always better than the designs in Resident Evil, save for maybe REmake Jill in here STARS uniform.

I'm probably one of the few people that actually likes Chris. And I wouldn't of minded if Piers had taken over from Chris and Chris had retired. Chris has had a hard life, they could always bring him back for a random game at some point in the series like they just did with Barry. But some of these characters stories need to end.
