My 560 ti for 5 years is dying what card should I get next? also graphic card thread and how do I dispose my old graphic card?

>>>/v/ you stupid gaymer faggot
>>
>>321036770

You wait for dx12

You'll thanks me later
>>
Looking for something similar. Best cards in the 200-300 range?
>>
>>321037337
well my card is dying can't even run small indie games
>>
If you need to buy now, a 970/980/ti depending on your budget.

Otherwise wait until the next generation of cards.
>>
>>321036770
Depends on budget but if you're willing to take a chance a r9 290 is fucking great if you can get it for cheap
>>
>>321037669

And when do those come out?
>>
>Waiting for the next graphic card gen to come out
I have been told to wait for dx12 since spring. At this rate once its here, people will tell me its shit and to wait for dx13.
>>
>>321036770
You could spend $300+ on an entry level card, or just do the smart thing and buy an Xbox One. Up to you, really.
>>
>>321037774

You want a reference you piece of shit? Dx11 came out in 2009. Dx12 cards are coming 7 years later.

Nvidia is literally trying to sell their meme cards before the big jump.

Just wait you will think of me when you see the performances increase

>oh wow that anon was right I shouldn't have been a fag to him
>>
950, 380X, 390, and 980ti are all pretty good. Just pick it whichever you can afford.

>>321037250
Hello my fellow /g/oodgoy :^)
>>
>>321037763
Ignore him Everyone will always say wait for the next generation even when that one comes out
>>
>>321036770
My nigga! Been runs ng tje samecard just as long, and I don't see any reason to upgrade just yet. I will wait for the DX12 cards to come out, and see how their higher mid-tier GPUs are received by the people. Prolly will get the GTX 960 (yi) equivalent then.
>>
>>321036770
7970 or 970
>>
>>321038134
But then when do these cards actually come out? My current one is now 6 years old.
>>
>>321038280
next year, first or second quarter
>>
>>321038280
get a old cheap second hand card
like this anon said >>321038260
a 7970 is pretty cheap and damn powerful( a ghz one is basically fine for everything 1080p today)
>>
>>321038213

Not him but he's right. Direct x upgrades come every 5-6 years or so and this one has a monumental increase. A few months is nothing. Besides the 900 series aren't true dx12 cards

My sister has the pictured card. It's a piece of shit, takes a lot of power, makes a lot of noise, gets hot as fuck and still has less performance than a 7850 which uses 2/3 of the electricity.
>>
>too stupid to follow technology on the internet

RRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
Wow, kudos to OP for considering the environment when disposing of the old card.

Sadly i dont know if there is any safe way to do that

Moat likely, it will end in a dump in Africa poisoning water supplies with heavy metal. Maybe you should consider asking directly to Nvidia, via a public tweet just to make sure. I can retweet it if you post the tweet later.
>>
>>321038678
that be great
>>
>>321036770
980 ti, 970 if you're on a budget. Don't listen to people who suggest you wait until the generation, that thing needs replacing whenever feasible.
>>
>>321036770

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ol/B00HJOXUKC/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=all

Get a used videocard. Gtx 970 or r9 390x are good choices
>>
>>321038678

Shut the fuck up. You think one fagbag matters when the rest of us trash bag it?

He's just wasting his time. It's like putting a bar of soap in sewage and thinking it makes a difference
>>
7850
>>
>>321038989
In fact is like putting less sewage. That certainly makes a difference. The less trash (specially electronic trash) the better. Just go to goggle news and put 'water scarcity'. Is very fucked up, man.
>>
Even if dx12 is much faster. Wont it be a while before games even use it anyway? And if my card is shit for games coming out now, dx12 will do nothing to improve those?
>>
>>321039675

You can't wait 2-4 months? Just play games on your xbone in the meantime
>>
>>321039782
They where supposed to come out like half a year ago. Who is to say they wont be delayed again.
>>
>>321036770
gtx 570 here
if you're having the problem where the display doesn't get a signal (black screen) while the sound gets static like, you'll need to find an overclocking tool to underclock your core and memory clock down by about 100 mhz core and 400 mhz memory (mines at 600 and 1400)
i'm doing this and waiting until Pascal, damn nvidia driver updates always break old gpus
>>
I just got the R 390 can anyone tell me if that is good or not?
>>
High-end is GTX 980ti.
Mid-range is R9 390 (non-X).
Low-end is GTX 960.
Everything else is a bad choice.

I have a 6970 which has never let me down, and still works pretty great. Whens this "next generation" of cards coming out? I wanna check out them 120 frames per second on a good monitor
>>
>>321041330
it's not great, but it'll last you for a while
>>
>>321037337
What in about 3 years. Fuck waiting.
970 will do you for now, not too pricey either
>>
>>321043678
how bad is not great? I do not want to do anything crazy, just max out games like x-com and transformers devastation MGR and I got civs beyond earth so which of those can I not max out?

The best 1080p card is a 380x, but if a 390 can be had for only a few sheles more get that.
>>
>>321043925
all of them, and more. It probably wont max out games in 3-5 years, which is why it isn't great.
But if you only play a select few games a lot (like CSGO or blizzard games etc) you are more than okay
>>
>>321044525
I mean you CAN max them out. sry bro I misread your post
>>
>>321038167

>950

Anon, please.

OP, if you want an entry-level card - save some money for a month and get AT LEAST a mid-range card, 380/380x. If you're an NVfag then you can go for a 960 4G but that's your own choice. If you have more to spend a 3.5mermecard will also do, but keep in mind that by supporting this card you are supporting this behavior and thus encouraging it. If you buy AMD then buy Sapphire and ONLY Sapphire cards because those are the only properly designed and cooled cards. If you can, try PowerColor as well, but haven't really seen those in action.

If you want to go over the 970/390, then just go for the 980ti, which is inarguably the best high-end card out right now.

I just bought a zotac 980 amp omega for £350, which for a 980 I thought was an incredibly good deal.

My nigga. Just got myself an upgrade for Christmas during cyber Monday.
>>
The R9 290 is a good, cost effective card. Got me running Fallout 4 at constant 60 with max settings, could even play with the gayass godrays effect on with a slight performance hit.

maaaaaaybe If I remember correctly, Legend of Korra wasn't great on PC at first, and Transformers Devastation is fantastic. There might be a hiccup, but I would give them the benefit of the doubt.
>Killer Instinct
I sure hope it runs well on PC. You need Windows 10 for it, which is a turn off already
you got a arcade stick bro? SFV comes out in feb and it is way easier to get into and learn than KI
>>
>>321044857
I already have sfv pre ordered and played the beta on ps4. I hope I can run that good as well. I do have an arcade stick. I always have the option to play sfv on ps4 which is why its no big deal if I can not run it on my pc, I would prefer it if I could. KI on the other hand pc is my only option
>>
>>321044480
>mfw 390x keking on 980
So we can finally agree that after a month or so amd cards eventually get better than their nvidia counterpart, right?
>>
>>321045101
SFV should run perfectly fine. I have a 5 year old card and it runs it at max settings with V-Sync at a perfect locked 60fps

Put it this way: if you play at 4k you HAVE to overclock a 980ti to match a fury x.
>>
>>321045216
well thats great to hear now all I have to worry about is installing my cpu and applying thermal paste some they spread others don't
>>
>>321036770
How do you know your card is dying?
Mine just completelly turned off while I was playing and never turned back on again.
>>
>>321045839

Bake it in the oven.
>>
>>321044480
why is the 390x worth so much more than the 390 when they both have the same performance?
>>
>>321040362
I have used Nvidia cards for 12 years, and all of them still work. Only once did I get (visual) problems with new drivers, but I just rolled back to previous version, and all was dandy. In general, I update my drivers very seldom, like once a year.

The 390x will always be that hair faster due to more stream processors. As a rule though you pay the premium for every frame you get at that performance point (and higher).

tfw still using a GTX 580 and it's only just now starting to struggle with max settings on games

I can hardly run Just Cause 3 but I think it's because that game is both taxing and definitely isn't optimised.

I'm probably going to upgrade next year for Deus Ex/SFV but I've definitely been feeling that there's some games which I can't play with a solid 60fps without it looking like garbage. I'm actually waiting for the next Geforce game offer to pop up since if I'm going to be forced to buy a game with my graphics card it's going to be at least one I'll play.
>>
>>321036770
>how do I dispose my old graphic card?

You don't. You put them on a mantle to remind you all the years they served.
>>
Bought myself a 960. How bad did I fuck up /v/?
>>
Was there any fatter card than the direct cu II gtx 580?
I loved that card. It looked so big and manly
>>
>>321045128

Amd cards are going to crush nvidias in dx12

Nvidia is going to give the 900 series the finger on e pascal is out

Amd wins the long term gane too
>>
>>321036770
have a 770 pretty reliable card i would recommend getting a 980 or a 280/380 and waiting for 1000 series
>>
>>321051749

Wish I did this with my GeForce4 mx420, 6600 gt, gtx 480 and gtx 780

Then again I'm switching AMD next upgrade since nvidia are shitting on older cards and using that cancer game works so I am perplexed

>>
>>321039675
belvie me 2016 will have some games but it will take 3-6 years like it did with dx11

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_12_support

wait for a middle gen card but just get a 980 or something now
>>
