Why do so few fantasy games allow you to disable spiders?
Many people can't play games with spiders in them, yet devs just ignore the issue.
Try not being a fag. I have intense fear of the deep sea and it never stopped me from going to that seahorse reef in majoras mask.
I was actually kind of surprised to find that so many people have such a big problem with spiders in games.
I don't really blame them, though. I can definitely understand it.

This. I have a borderline phobia of insects(including spiders) in general and I've never been that bothered by fictional insects.
Pictures of real ones can set me of depending on the type. But not you know, CGI ones.
By borderline phobia I mean I once spent 2 hours in the middle of the night moving my furniture out of the way because one of those long legged fly's hid somewhere in my room(that turned out to be fucking dead in the first place).
Then I spent the next 1 hour trying to fall asleep while thinking about the fact that I saw a dead fly.

The whole point of these games is setting out into the big dangerous unknown world for fortune and glory. Yeah, you'll find stuff you're afraid of, but to get your reward you need to grow as a person and overcome it. To quit the game because there's an enemy you don't like is akin to a hero stopping his quest because he doesn't like dark places.
Go play Animal Crossing instead.
Spiders in games never quite capture what creeps me right the fuck out about them rl. In games they're always making noise and always moving which makes them more like other animals and less confronting. Skyrim's spiders got the look right but they're always chittering and their idle animation isn't still. If they moved the way spiders do in real life then I think vidya spiders would actually be creepy. I have SEVERE arachnophobia and I have'nt played any vidya that actually capture what it is that fucks me up. They're just so alien, even other insects seem like animals whereas spiders are just so WRONG.
