I had such high hopes for devil's third but the negative press has made me avoid it but there's been a surprisingly large amount of threads on here claiming it's totally fine.
I think I'm going to take the plunge and hope for the best. Hopefully I've got enough NZ Funbucks for it

Also after playing the single player of devils third, I can understand why it got such low scores.
1. Performance problems in single player, texture pop in, frame drops. I can entirely blame this on whatever left overs they were using from the unreal engine. I had similar problems with Gears of War on the 360. I had no problems with multiplayer performance except that there was nobody playing last night but 4 people.
2. It plays like a video game and not a movie. I can see it getting marked off because it's not cinematic enough.
3. Some of the graphics are very good. Some look really bad. The character model faces are pretty nice and remind me of 90s Capcom Final Fight characters.
4. The controls are actually very easy and fun. Parkour, especially in online, is goat as fuck. Also bullets actually do damage unlike in other games, and there's a satisfying gush of Ninja Gaiden style blood as a kill confirm.
5. The game is too sexy and too brutal for SJW audiences. The story also is literally 80s B Movie flick, but the story scenes don't drag on unlike the majority of cinematic games today.
6. Pressing Start actually pauses the game while in a cutscene. WOW.
