dont think so. even if you replay the same star after getting it, its stays bright. if it was an accidentally changed setting based on the the stage layout, then it would always be foggy when choosing the 1st star

That's a good question. The instruction booklet says Bowsuh used the Power of the Stars to create worlds in the paintings, but then you have that secret level within a level behind Peach's Waterfall that seems to be the real deal.

Because Mario doesn't belong in that world. The planet Pikmin are found on is Earth in the distant future. The Mushroom Kingdom is in a different dimension from Earth. Obviously, he is using some sort of device to travel between the worlds, but it is unstable. I believe this technology was made by E Gadd. But why would he travel between the worlds? To recruit for Smash Bros Brawl.

Yes, its a separate timeline where a child is god and both Master Hand and Crazy hand are his physical manifestations of creativity and destruction, Master Hand created that world, that was initially populated by ROBs, but when the smash tournament begin, he used his unlimited powers to raise an island in the air so all the ROBs could live there in peace, Tabuu is actually another god like being attacking the kid's imagination world, Tabuu could be interpreted as either the kid's edgy older brother or the kid's older self, which is why the Subspace enemies are so different from the Smash characters, the older kid/brother wanted to destroy the imagination world by consuming the "childhood", when master hand tried to beat tabuu he failed, because you can't stop time, it was only Sonic, a being from another dimension that didn't followed that universe's rules who broke Tabuu's wings and decreased his powers, which allowed the smash warriors to get the rest of the job done
