AoT started off okay but shit the bed hard because of shit pacing and plot twists people were calling from the first few chapters. I'll concede that season 1 of SAO could be entertaining but was nothing special, but Season 2 is hilariously awful. Never watched the series Hestia came from but at the same time I never really see people shitting on it. It seems like one of those things that came and went without much fuss.
I just think it's silly to go "people only hate it because it's popular" while implying that anything that's popular can't possibly be bad.
I don't consider Gurren Lagann a masterpiece of storytelling or anything along those lines but fuck me it was incredibly fun to watch and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Overcoming impossible odds was a pretty cool message and was able to make me feel a bit better when I was in a rough spot. I don't understand why some people don't enjoy it, but I am a simple man with simple tastes.
