I don't know why I thought Homecoming was so much better. I played it recently because my friend wanted to try it and god I don't know what I was thinking. Downpour is so much better it's not even funny.

I like the sidequests/open world aspect because it encouraged you to explore to get more story. It's a shame that it wasn't too scary, had a lot of potential. I really like the Weeping Bats though.

I really liked that too. The games are so linear that having a couple areas to just fool around and see what happens was really refreshing.
But I really hated that the last level takes away all your stuff. It made doing a lot of the sidequests kind of pointless. Homecoming did the same thing where you get tons and tons of bullets/weapons only to lose them all. It doesn't make very much sense to be weak for a few moments if that new area also has tons of ammo and weapons to collect.

Everything about the boss fights in homecoming was excellent except for the part where you had to use Homecoming's combat to get past them. They all looked awesome, they all had interesting and varied attacks, their intros were all good.....but the actual process of defeating them was an exercise in frustration. Overall, not a net improvement for a series known for having really easy and uninteresting boss fights, I feel.

Scarlet imo was one of the best designed SH bosses. If it was in any previous outing with the same ideas, it would have been great and intense. Then again that goes almost all the bosses except the final. The final boss was stupid as hell.
