Not that anon. But someone who isn't casual enjoys challenge for challenge sake. The game will feel "complete", when they've overcome what they wanted to overcome.
Achievements were implemented, in order to incentive casuals to play longer. Thus cultivating brand loyalty. So they're more inclined to stick with the system that has all of their "trophies" stored.
Trophies are nothing but social rewards. As they only serve to garner recognition. Which is what casuals love. They only want the bragging rights. So their friends can see what they "accomplished".
Alternatively, you have the completionists. Who are just another form of casuals. Because they are no longer palying the game for the love of the game. They continue playing to finish their collection of "trophies". Those poor bastards simply had their OCD impulses hijacked.

But yeah, the point is that the moment you start playing for the sake of achievements/trophies is the moment you stop playing because the quality of the game.
You don' t play because you're enjoying the game, but because you HAVE to do such or such thing to get the shiny trinkets and see the numbers go up.
In fact, if you did a scientific experience measuring the level of pleasure of the players (which is very much possible), you would see that the player playing for the sake of the game (i.e. because the game is GOOD) would have a level of pleasure much greater than that of the player playing for the sake of the cheevos (EVEN if the game is good).
I think I have like 14 and I've never once done trophies on purpose. I guess some games just hand them out.
