One thing you should know: In certain chapters you absolutely need to keep important story characters alive and to complete the chapter in a reasonable number of turns or the game will end before the last few chapters and you get a bad end.

The RNG can fuck you over and kill you no matter how well you play. If you want to keep all your units, you WILL have to restart missions all the time.
As far as Marcus goes, make sure not to have him kill all of the enemies, or else your other units won't level enough and you'll have a tough time later on.

It's fucking great and I like it more than FE. Made by the same developers and is basically the sister series to FE. There are no RPG elements and it's just pure strategy. It's more like an RTS I guess, in that you have to find a way to earn more money, and then use that money to make more units. I don't like RTS games though but AW is the fucking shit.

Yeah, if you look at the cap there was a down arrow next to his javelin, and an up arrow next to the bandit's iron axe, weapon triangle can be ignored by certain units at later points in the game, but it gives you +15 hit, +1 damage, +15 avoid, and +1 defence against anybody you're fighting that's at weapon triangle disadvantage

In addition to the weapons triangle there's also the need to keep in mind that some categories of weapons are just difficult to use no matter what.
Take the Javelin you issued to Lance. It's actually got a lower hit rate than the regular iron lance and deals less damage to boot. So if you were to go against even a sword user (weak against lances) you might actually fare WORSE than if you'd used a regular iron lance.
The same applies for stronger weapons like steel and silver versions. They're more powerful, yes, but their hit rate is lower, their weapon weight is higher and therefore you'll get a lower chance of doing a double attack. This is particularly important on characters with low constitution scores.

ok, dude, you can't use Marcus that much. Your other dudes benefit more from exp, and bosses always give a lot more than the regular mooks.
MAYBE injure the boss with marcus, but try to kill with a character you really want to level with.
Think of Marcus as your back up plan. If everything goes to shit, let him clean up.

There's nothing wrong with using Marcus. He falls off in the late game compared to other units, but he's excellent in the first third of the game and decent in the middle, while requiring zero investment. If you ditch Marcus, you're just making the game harder. All you need to do is make sure that your other units get enough exp to grow.
