That was easy, though. And it made it a 'oh shit' moment.

you just wait for him to jump on you and dodge and go to the stairs llike the faggot you are
>>
I still find it odd in retrospect that this is the second boss, dealing with two bosses is a much more "skilled" thing in the souls games. I would've expected them to be at Quelaag or maybe even later in the game (with boosted stats and a more threatening moveset)

I guess it's meant to be a hurdle you have to leap before you can get further.

I did get good. Went for the pillars on the right so take out the dog so it was only me VS the Capra demon.

The only (true) bullshit moment in DS was the Archers in Anor Londo. Getting good meant nothing when they could snipe you with arrows the size of literal spears across a narrow edge

One will always stop dead and breathe fire, that gives you valuable seconds to take out the second one. Alternatively you can use that gold pine resin you found earlier and potentially wreak the first gargoyle before the second one even appears

>>

Why would you ever use the drake sword? It makes the beginning of the game too easy and it almost certainly means you're using a guide which ruins a lot of the fun in souls games.
>>
>>320964476
I found Capra much easier than Gargoyles for some reason

Go on faggot. Tell us how you found out about it without at guide. Tell us about how you hid below the bridge and shot at him for 2 hours instead of just continuing through the level.

It baffles me because killing the drake also nets you the fantastic claymore.

Not him but I assumed after the Gargoyles and Gaping Dragon that pretty much every boss's tail dropped a weapon. I wasn't wrong.

It doesn't require a guide to get some common sense or curiosity. I can imagine someone thinking they absolutely need to cross the bridge and try to kill the dragon by shooting the tail.

So ceaseless is optional because you can roll and heal through the lava? Every new player surely does that :^)
>>

but Gwyn is the easiest boss in the game
>>
>>320967850

*that's because
>>
I started playing this a few days ago and I like everything about it, except some of the boss battles, and the fact that dying makes you have to grind through the previous 10 minutes of enemies again, just to get one-shot while trying to learn attack patterns. I just back up my saves right before the summon sign and fog door, and load them up when I die to save time. I also did this with the Anor Londo archers, and I'm currently in the Tomb of the Giants (after the Patches pit) which I'm just gonna Cheat Engine my way through since I absolutely can't stand not being able to see anything. Regardless of combat and enemy locations. I just don't like the sensation of being blind. I also skipped the fight with Smough and whatserface since I didn't even feel like attempting it a single time and I had to to leave for work and just wanted to see what's at the end of the temple thing.

>inb4 madfags who probably died a hundred times in that fight get mad it me skipping right to having fun again

Also started DaS II, and they really cranked up the "le hard game" meme. Is using a shield against most enemies simply not viable until you get one with 100 damage resist? In DaS, I didn't utilize my roll for anything except boss battles, but now it seems like they're really pushing it for the whole game.
>>
>>320967849

The dev team was aware that you could skip ceaseless before the game shipped and kept in. So yes, I would say that.
>>
>>320967976

>>320967976
Just put down your sign and help other people to learn bosses. You can also sprint through most levels fairly easily once you are stuck on a boss.

And yeah non 100 shields are garbage at the start of DaS2. Dual wielding and greatswords are the most fun though so fuck blocking.

>>
>>320967976
>Is using a shield against most enemies simply not viable until you get one with 100 damage resist?

You can get the Drangleic armor/shield within the first 2 hours of the game and that can basically carry you throughout the game.
>>
>>320968267
>parry vs. non-parry

I intentionally forgo parrying to make the fight more fun and interesting. It feels more satisfying to roll out the way of his skyward lunging attack counting with a roll slash. It's better than watching a 5 second animation where I don't get to control shit.

It wasn't even a challenge, you just had to time your movement, yet, you could still get fucked up if the archer decides to dump his sword again and pick up his bow. It's just stupid.

4kids is literally the only Souls boss I've had no trouble with.
I've beat other bosses on the first try, but typically I have to heal or I get hurt or something.
I don't think I ever even got hit by the 4kids.

the only good thing it does is that it patches the base game with updates that you can't get otherwise.

not worth the money, unless it's like 4 dollars or so

>>320972312
The DLC is highly overrated.
Anons got me all pumped up, but it was a disappointment.

Sure, the DLC are miles better than the base game, they all do something really really well, but none of them are great.
Iron Crown has two GOAT bosses, vertical level design and some good concepts, but the enemy design is pretty bad and the dungeon itself is a huge chore to go through thanks to all the ganking.
Ivory Crown has one GOAT boss, but the others are utter shit. The lore and setting are interesting, with some surprisingly good characters and gimmicks but the design of the enemies and place itself are rather dull.
Sunken Crown's bosses range from mediocre to outright bad, but the level design is solid.

Different anon, I found the Drake Sword on my own back in 2011 by trying to cheese the Drake. I though you had to kill it, and finding an area where I seemed to be doing damage but was perfectly safe was my cunning plan.

I bought 300 hundred arrows, but it probably only took 10-15 hits since I had decent Dex (and I bought Heavy Arrows).

When I got the sword I thought I'd actually killed it, and I didn't understand why it just landed again. Then I went online to see if anyone else had found it, and first result was the IGN article.

Okay I recently started BB last weekend and I'm aiming for an arcane build. So far I have nothing. No weapons, nothing at all that can supplement an arcane build. No spells too.

I'm getting my ass handed so far because the enemies are all like damage sponges and it's getting tedious dodging and baiting for backstab and parry because I'm all investing my stat progression on arcane.

What am I doing wrong here Lazlo?

yeah I was wondering how they expect you to do an arcane build. Im up to byrgenwerth and I have yet to find a single spell and the electric mace you can find by getting killed by the bag dudes bag attack which will send you to a secret area full of fucking crazy strong dogs scales better with strength anyway.

I haven't watched any of the bloodborn lp, but I'm guessing pat just mimics things he saw in a vaati video and then acts like a know it all?

You fight the second one at half health at least it's not the Maneaters in Demon's where your arena is fucking puny.

If you take the left exit of Oedon Chapel, with the front exit going towards Vicar, there's this path that'll lead to Old Yharnam.
After you defeat the boss at the end of this optional area, which is fairly easy with the NPC summon, two options for arcane weapons will become available.

1. Ridiculously strong bag dudes will spawn at certain places in Cathedral Ward. If they kill you, they'll kidnap you to a fairly high-leveled place, don't worry, there's a lantern there, so you aren't really trapped You can find a fairly strong mace there that scales with arcane

2. a right exit will open in Oedon Chapel, leading to another optional area, a tower. If you climb up this tower, you can find a badge, which will unlock a greatsword to be bought in the Hunter's Dream, which also scales with arcane. This route is considerably easier imo.

Both are strenght/arcane weapons, but I guess that's better than nothing.
Spells I haven't encountered yet, so I have no idea where you're supposed to find those early game at least.
