laugh all you want, but PSVR will the the non-mobile VRheadset with most support and most games.

If anything, Rift/Vive will only get AAA multiplat attention thanks to PSVR

ActivisionBlizzarrd wouldn't give two shits about VR support in CoD/Overwatch/whatever else if they weren't also on PS4

The PC headsets will always have plenty more tech demos and shitty indie support but no one will buy them as you need a good tower PC. Most PCs are laptops, then most are medium-tier pre-builts, and only a tiny minority of the market are DYI towers with good specs to run VR in. PC VR is soly for enthusiasts for the next 5 years, if not more. While PSVR can be used by any PS4 user, which right now are 50+% of the market, homeconsole wise.

Well, 40million people by spring next year won't seem to care

Neither will the 55-60 million by the end of 2016.

That quote applies to any game, not just VR. Most people prefer the ease of use over performance. And "most people" is the market that will get real support.

Time and time again history has showed us that optional periphericals sell like shit on consoles. If it didn't come in the box with the console so you can be sure every person who has the console has it I guarantee you it will perform like shit in terms of sales and support. You're free to screencap this. The ps4 will continue to sell, but the ps vr headset is dead on arrival.

Maybe if the ps5 comes with a VR headset in the box they can get something going on, but until then it will fail on consoles.

It's not that. Most people want all their games on vr and they don't want them neutered to the extreme. The same with the latest and greatest games that come out. I'm guessing on the ps4 side people would want games like cod, gta and uncharted 4 with full vr. They won't pick it up for a few niche specialized titles.

If sony starts downgrading all their games to fit for VR then I can see it being adapted. You're either all in or all out.

As for me? I'm waiting until vr is the size of sunglasses. I don't want a box on my head.

No matter how much you think it won't sell on PS4, it'll sell even less on PC.

No one gave a crap about kinect or Move because they were just a different way to control games, a shittier way. VR is a wholy different thing

It will sell exceptionally well if more games become VR-compatible. Not many people care for VR-only games

FF14, AceCombat7 and GTsport (between more) are already confirmed to be VR-compatible. That's when people will flock to it. When CoD, FIFA and ElderScrolls6 get VR

no it won't. VR is only good for a very select few genres. How is VR gonna improve playing something like MGS or DMC or anything that isn't a first person experience? You think it's gonna take over when a huge amount of people play video games with their buddies on the couch? This tech is exclusively for fun 5 hour on rails experiences or neckbeard simulator games. It's completely impractical for anything else. Mark my words, this will never "take over".
>>

>>
>>320939829

>PSVR will have more games
"PC headsets will always have plenty more tech demos and shitty indie support"
I admited PCVR will always get more games, I wouldn't be surprised if there are 2000 already. But they are mostly the shitty horror/experimental type

Enthusiast-only stuff, like I said. Not consumer grade in either ease of use of quality.

>and be better
Once more, where have I said this? Obviously PCVR will be better depending on your build. It just won't be supported outside of mostly indies/kickstater. It will be, however, if PSVR gathers a lot of attention and AAA's or even AA's start to care for it.

You are right. Everything I said is wrong

PS4 VR will get all the experimental small projects by the hundreds and will run VR flawlessly, much better than anything PC can achieve. It'll also get VR from kickstaters like StarCitizen

PC VR on the other hand will get the AAA's attention and will be the most consumer friendly experience, with much more mass market appeal from its ease of use. It'll also not perform as well.

Oculus USB3.0 connections:
>2 for cameras
>1 for HMD
>1 for wireless controllers

hmm, I have exactly 4 USB3.0 ports, might be able to get away with buying a hub to connect my USB3.0 external hard drive.

Vive USB3.0 connections:
>1 for HMD
>1 for wireless controllers
As many laser base stations for tracking as you want without occupying any USB 3.0 ports

Vive seems better in that regard but it is not a deal breaker for me if the oculus is significantly better bang for buck. Both systems seem close in terms of technical specifications as far as optics and OLED screens are concerned.

Oculus touch:
>gesture recognition, index point and thumbs up
>2 buttons per controller
>grab and trigger buttons
>analog stick

Vive controllers:
>trackpad with 4 buttons like a dpad
>2 buttons one above and below trackpad. (like start and select probably to bring up menu)
>detects thumbs up when you lift thumb from track pad, no index pointing detection
>grib and trigger buttons

Controller layout is similar between the two, vive has more buttons but oculus has better gesture recognition. It is a little irritating that oculus touch doesn't have a dedicated start button equivalent to bring up the game's menu.

Leaning towards oculus CV1 because it releases earlier and cheaper, also for the index finger pointing detection which can come in handy. I know touch won't be out until Q2 but at least I'd get the HMD early to play around with and an xbone controller to go with it.

At any rate I will wait until HTC announces their "massive breakthrough" to see if it is worth waiting 3 months for, but I don't have my hopes up their PR has been an absolute train wreck lately.

On the other hand Oculus has been on the ball with their PR and schedule, they seem to know what they are doing.

1440p and 120fps is the bare minimum and even then it's very pixelated and bad. Since this is consoleshit then you know devs are going to drop to 1080p 60fps for muh graphics.

Vive's made by and with game developers. Oculus is made by a datamining-advertising company that doesn't give one fuck about games (in fact games are probably closest to a "competitor" in Facebook's eyes, they'd rather have you in virtual cinemas or chatrooms to feed them more data). If you believe Luckey's spiel about Oculus and FB remaining entirely separate despite two billion dollars you're naive af, too. They'll support open VR standards until they decide they need a return on their investment and then close it down and try to crush the competition with their "player"-base, since they'll never manage to remain competitive with Valve (or Sony) on an iterative/innovation/technological level. Finally I'd think twice before paying Facebook to install multiple cameras in your room, or letting them record you playing games, and turn gaming into a stage for narcissistic exhibitionists, and turn games into ads.

Hardly. The PS4 version is practically mobile tier.

SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!

It's different with vr, anything below 75fps is very much noticeable and often leads to motion sickness.
>>
>>320950521
Eh, actual VR user here. 60 fps is usable, but you may detect flickers and brightness is reduced. You'll also feel more sluggish. Framerate of animations is also a lot more noticeable in VR, actually animations in general are a lot more noticeable. I'm not going to say PSVR can't be fun or an ok VR experience, but the ponies saying it will get better and bigger games are completely delusional. With VR if you shoot for realism, you can't cut corners in the same ways as traditional games. An AAA VR game would be a lot more expensive and have a smaller potential userbase so I don't see AAA VR games existing for quite a while. PC at least lets you hack existing AAA games to make them playable while you wait for that to happen.

I want to go to one of Japan's Ocufes. They always seem to have interesting and unique stuff.

Fuck no.

The PS4 wont be powerful enough for this, and the whole ordeal is just going to be move all over again.

They brought a prototype all the way to india?

Probably not, but that new Ace Combat game is tempting me.
>>
>>320952186
It's another UE4 game that will very likely come out on PC later anyway. I wouldn't buy it just for Ace Combat.
>>
I'd rather use this one

Using a Galaxy S3 with the Google Cardboard convinced me that everyone screaming about how PSVR will fail because it needs 1080p 120fps were just a bunch of raving faggots. I got a headache the first and second time I used it before getting used to it, but as a normie faggot, I noticed no issues with frame rate or the screen door effect people always bring up, and the Galaxy S3's max resolution is 720p.
>>
>>320952746
>>320952746
That's almost certainly an artifact of the lower FOV. Lower FOV means screen door is reduced as the lenses don't expand much and motion sickness is alleviated as you are still mostly looking into a window.
>>
>>320952662
Except the problem with that headset is you can't use it. Way too heavy, weird artifacts, needs a lot more processing power, and only runs Starbreeze software.
>>
>>320953274
And the problem with Morpheus is that you're stuck using PS4 programs, so you have a silky smooth 15 fps.
>>
>>320924868

Resolution is too low. Wait until it's at least 8k per eye at 100 FPS.
>>
>>320952662

By no exaggeration it was nogaems and no compatibity for other games.

If it's going to be something like $300 they can keep that shit.
>>
>>320955308
It is. They said it would be like the price of a console. I can't see it being lower than $300.

I'm interested in it.

I'd love a Zoo Tycoon game I can walk around in VR in.

Probably just fixing their power problems that cause their controller batteries to die all the time. Maybe just their camera mounted on their headset.
