GE plays differently than MH. There is more focus on story and characters for starters. Also, the ranged combat is far more viable. There is no bullshit where ranged has 2x less defense, but does similar (but often less) damage than melee.

It was ok, other than the actual style they used. It's fucking awkward seeing white outlines on everything in an animated show.
The studio threw out but the core premise of the games though, and rewrote the entire thing as they wanted. In the process they annihilated characters like Alisa, and threw out the philosophy of "no minor characters" the games had adapted.
If you're an actual fan of GE, it's the worst kind of dogshit without even any really good fanservice other than the megahuge sky aragami glimpses.

Yeah. It's not that they made a bad adaptation and failed. They literally didn't even try - I guess Bamco must've said it was ok or it never would've happened, but they just took the setting and characters and made up their own shit while keeping a few base plot elements in the background. Alisa's treatment is a really common complaint really, since she's such a popular character.
That's why the show works for people like /a/ who don't play the games - if you literally know nothing about GE, nothing seems off, and it's an average to somewhat decent show.
If you did like GE before watching it though, it's a huge WTF are these faggots doing experience.
