You can continue to throw your buzzwords at the screen like spoiled toddlers but the fact remains: this game HAS and will continue to change gaming as we know it and be remembered as time passes.
Nobody has ever made such a charismatic, intelligent, insightful, innovative and creative game since MGS3 or Majora's Mask. Furthermore, you can continue to hate this by proclaiming it's "tumblr", but the fact remains, it's so much more than that. It's honest. It's emotional, it's vulnerable. It's as real as it gets for video gaming in 2015.
It's very experimental and not many will give it a chance because it doesn't "bang on the couch" but furthermore, it truly deserves all the acclaim it has and will get in the future.
Hate all you want, you know objectively it's 10/10. The storytelling, gameplay and concept are like no other.
Oh its this thread again.

Maybe we should wait a bit longer
>game came out this year
>classic
Idk mate. Let's check this time next year after the next fotm game comes out.
>>320904126
>>320904207
It's an instant classic.
Watch, two years from now everyone will say the same.
>>320904207
can't be flavor of the month for more than a month
>>320906040
I think the game is alright, but you've got to be a retard to get riled up about this. The creator is a fucking Earthbound fanboy and credits it to influencing who he is as a person. He also likes Gurren Lagann and other such garbage anime.
There's nothing wrong with somebody setting out to make "their own spin" or a "better" version of something else that they like.
>>320904012
Pretty funny you talk about throwing buzzwords around, but you call the game "objectively" 10/10.
"Concept like no other"
A game about exploring an opressed and forgotten sub culture previously believed to be "evil"?
And it has a meta narrative?
Uh-huh, never heard that before.
Unless you've mean gameplay concept, I somewhat agree with you, but then you would be redundant.

WOAH
an RPG heavily inspired by earthbound had some earthbound references, cuff 'im!
>>320904012
So if nobody liked it would it still be a classic?
>>320906937
like this one?
>>320904012
I liked the game but please shut the fuck up. It's an 8.5/10 at best. The concept was fine and worked well, but at the very best it's still a turn based RPG with ez-modo touhou gameplay spliced in and a few decent characters that no one can seem to stop ruining.
>>320906349
>>320906040
no you see, undertale is a meme game and that means that its automatically shit. im not going to explain why its a meme game or anything. it just is. im so triggered by people enjoying a game that ill spend all day spewing my objectively superior opinion at you until you accept my words as fact.
>>320904012
A classic for degenerate idiots, no one else.
Probably the biggest turnoff for most of you about to get this game is just how much praise its getting. Looks like just another fandom that is passing by, that's staying alive only from hype. Honestly, that was what I was thinking too. I knew nothing of this game and went in completely blind, thinking it was just another overhyped game.
...But from the second room onwards, I knew I was in for a ride.
Oh boy, Undertale. You are absolute perfection. I wish I was exagerrating, but that wouldn't be doing a number on this game, which is hands down the greatest gaming experience I have ever had in my lifetime. It does so many things correctly that I'd be glad to experience it first hand again.
WHEN IS HARD MODE
>>320907036
it's a meme game because it has internet memes in it, silly.
Can someone explain to me why this game is so beloved? Is it the story? I've seen gameplay and while it's certainly an interesting take on RPG it's definitely not amazing.
>>320907029
I have to admit, it really was my favorite game of the year, but at its core, the gameplay itself really was lacking.
Fantastic game, but with some not-so-stellar gameplay is an odd combo. I want to rate it ridiculously high based on my enjoyment out of it, but the gameplay itself, without being influenced by the story and characters, was pretty shallow, even with the amount of mileage Toby was able to pull out of it.
Except the bosses. The bosses easily bump the gameplay up from a measly 6/10 to a solid 8.5/10
>>320907423
faggots falling for the feelsbait.
story is anime
characters are cringe
gameplay is walking simulator 90% of the time, warioware shit the rest.
>>320907423
It has fags in it and it's quirky. Also has Disney level sentimentality in its writing like a Paper Mario game.
In short, there are a lot of queers using the internet these days.
>>320907423
The story is shit. It doesn't take itself seriously though.
I agree with >>320907482 that the boss battles are the best part of the game and make it slightly above mediocre.
>>320907423
A story that is one of the few stories that can only be told in the specific medium it's written in. The story couldn't have been told any more, or even as effectively, as it was as a computer game.
Trust me, go into it blind, try not to kill anyone, but if you do, reset and try again. The game opens up when you do so, and it helps you to understand it better. It may not do some groundbreaking things, but the contexts they're presented truly makes the experience a unique one.
>>320904012
>It's as real as it gets for video gaming in 2015.
Which is proof of how insipid 2015 was for vidya and for a lot of other shit.
>>320907916
>try not to kill anyone
I think doing that is why I didn't like it the first time.
After playing it more like a normal rpg, sparing when given the choice after beating them up, it somehow made me more interested in exploring the other routes after that.
If anyone's beaten it, they should try another run; they're much faster than the first time.
>>320907916
>>320904012
This game will be forgotten in another month or two tops. I liked it alright but thinking this game is on par with real classic is hilarious. The Undertale fanbase will move on to the next flavor of the month and it'll drop down to $1.50 on Steam
>shitty obscure indie game ever being a classic
lmao
>>320906040
Something funny, all of those specific dialogue bits from Undertale are reoccurring lines used throughout the game, likely to reassert associated themes.
To some players, it won't even be the first time they've heard it, and to most it won't be the last. It's like pottery.

Kek. I only had to watch the first 20 minutes of a let's play to know it was a rip off of Earthbound. But this is just...
>>320904012
I stopped playing when I got to the ghosts house. I liked the characters but the combat was just so boring
What has it done to change gaming?

>There are people who rally behind Undertale like it's a shining beacon for all that is SJWfaggotry
>There are people who are so paranoid that they think Undertale is trying to push an agenda and try to warn others against a nonexistent boogeyman
>There are people who watch a LP and think they're qualified to critique the game
>There are people who cannot tell the difference between "ripping something off" and "being inspired by"
And all of these people breathe the same air and share the same board as us non-retards.
Makes me sick.
