What are some games featuring or based around the rescue of a princess? It's a genre that has become somewhat demonized in today's fiction, but I'm eager to rescue some damsels regardless.

They don't exist. Not recently anyway. If they do exist, it's tongue in cheek shit.

Probably because it's incredibly cliché

I would be comfortable enough indulging myself with the cliche simply for the nostalgia factor, if nothing else.

Of course, I forgot to mention that. Nevertheless, I'll definitely go back and play some Link to the Past.

Has there ever actually been a game about being a white knight? I don't mean defending girls on the internet, I mean a game where you embody old virtues liberals could never understand like justice, fairness, honor, loyalty, chivalry and helping those in need including women.
>>
>>320900039
Dragon's Dogma.
She's a duchess but close enough you even get to heroically carry her to safety.
>>
>>320903975
One of my favourite character types is the stoic warrior, who remains a bastion of justice and goodwill to the point of naivete, and who gradually comes to realise that the world is not black and white.

>old virtues liberals could never understand like justice, fairness, honor, loyalty, chivalry and helping those in need including women.
Except knights never did any of this

They were entirely egotistical upper class pricks who would happily steal your wife and rape her just to spite you as a peasant

They like all soldiers from all times were some of the worst human beings in existence.

The 'noble knight' is a modern invention.

yeah because we're talking about fiction, the idea of the noble knight literally goes back to medieval romanticism. no shit that didn't happen in reality but we aren't talking about that.

knights were told to obey a code of chivalry but rarely did they actually do it.
it's like how every US soldier takes an oath to uphold the constitution and the ones that take said oath seriously are labeled terrorists(look up oathkeepers if you don't believe me)
so, there were likely some knights that actually followed the code, but they were looked at in the same way buck strickland looks at hank hill.

Loyalty is a stupid virtue. If your leaders are good leaders, people will naturally be loyal to them. Leaders who demand loyalty are always, always shitters who don't deserve it.

Is there any samurai game besides onimusha that actually delves into their honor stuff? I can only think of the ones from the Yakuza series, that are only japanese, and the musou stuff that I don't like.

I want something more heavy, like Onimusha or NiOh.

>It's a genre that has become somewhat demonized in today's fiction

Nigga, you are about 400 years late to this conclusion. Don Quixote started it.
>>
>>320906476
Being loyal is more than being loyal to a person or ideal. The reason generals like Rommel or Ney are even remembered half as fondly as they are today is because of their loyalty to their country even when their country didn't deserve it.

On a matter less related to the thread. I believe those people exist. They're rare, but there are people like that. I would bet my life that there where knights, probably more than a few, that embodied that romantic image. People like them are around today. There are probably a few in every first world military.

(You)'re an idiot

Try reading some middle english/middle french literature you fucking idiot. Malory, the Alliterative Morte Arthure and tons of lais exist that exalt heroic knight characters saving women, killing giants, fighting against corrupt empires etc.

If anything, the modern conception of knights is as corrupt/bloodthirsty monsters

But hes right you retard. Well partly. Knights were also hired hands of wealthy landowners who thus had common folk to work for the general cause. Swordsmenship wasnt something that was like modern karate where you find any snot nose. There were noble knights sure. Ones who found out if their landlords were noble or a jew. More jew landlords so more asshat knights. They were law enforcement but also the steel for tax collection.

Also /v/ crying about realism for knights is a bad thing then will go to any FPS thread and cry why they are getting 2shot in leg to death.
>>
>>320906476
First off, you're a fucking retard.

Anyway, the concept of loyalty as a virtue is because loyalty means you are loyal to someone for reasons beyond it being inmediately beneficial to you. It reflects a measure of faith and selflessness in that person, and on the recipricol, that person they are being loyal is expected to be loyal to them in turn.

Would be cool to see a barebones souls game where the story goal is to simply rescue your princess and that's it.

Then just fill the world with crazy shit in between.

People been using that word wrong and think it just saving girls.

Liberal hate the idea that girls need saving and it's stereotypical and sexist.
>>
>>320908905
Chivalry is poison to liberals because treating (pure) women and defending even slights to their honor and respectability is sexist and degrading

Hell libcucks probably even hate the idea of just treating everyone fairly because you don't elevate minorities to preferential treatment
>>
>>320904993
Holy shit dude contain your autism. You're on an imageboard, the whole point is to make conversation.
>>
>>320909153
Just as with anything historical, some parts of people or in this case a class of people are omitted, and some romanticized. They did have good qualities, but to gloss over their atrocities is just wrong. Like the crusader knights, they after the fall of Constantinople (1204) they looted fellow Christians, they raped Christian nuns. Knights weren't great people, they did their fair share of bad shit too.
>>
>>320909848
that's not a conversation

you went off a tangent that had little to do with what the guy asked
>>
>>320909871
Anon, they were creating atrocities during the first crusade when they kill their own christian believers in Jerusalem just because they look like muslims.
>>
I honestly cannot believe of very many.

We need more hero simulators.
>>
>>320910191
Yeah but there was no chivalric code yet, or none that codified. By 1204 there is one, and most clearly disregard it.
>>
>>320910468
