Is /v/ still pretending this game wasn't good?
>>320886289
>Resident evil 4 terror edition
Now stfu.
It was a worse RE4, to top it off it looks and runs shit on all platforms.
I've actually been playing though it recently.
It's good for the most-part; there's a lot I like about it.
It has issues though, like how it drags at times, and how I already know the story won't make any sense unless I play the DLC
>>320886289
I'm not pretending tho, they tried to pass off the whole game as being like the first 20 but in reality it was like RE5 with even less unique content throughout the game
Yes. Only the salty Resident Evil fags cry about it. You can tell they know Resident Evil went to shit and Evil Within is the next great horror series.
>>320886535
>it drags at times
My number one complaint with the game.
They really could have thrown in another two or three weapons across the game to keep things from stagnating as much as they do
I played a prerelease version at PAX East and pirated on release, but I'd pretty much forgotten about this.
Shit was pretty boring from what I recall.
>>320886728
>series
kekarinnnnnn
>>320886480
>looks
Nah. Definitely runs like shit but the game is gorgeous for being cross gen
>>320886289
>he didnt play it on hardest diff
>>320886289
>Is /v/ still pretending this game wasn't good?
It is good. I played it this year and it's my favorite game of the year and I played all the other big games.
The DLC was also good.
Give it time, /v/ is retarded like that. /v/ just to call Max Payne 3 shit but now they've finally accepted that it is a good game.
>>320887238
Post-patching I get a pretty consist 60fps on my 970. Honestly I think the optimization is far from horrible given how good the game actually looks
>>320887301
>Hardest
You mean that shitty mode where one hit kills you? Nah thats shit tier artificial difficulty. Same with the DLC's no light difficulty bullshit. I'll stick to nightmare tyvm.
>>320887238
Textures are disgusting. Sunflower field was the onl good-looking part of the game.
>>320886289
I liked it.
I think the agony crossbow is one of the coolest weapons in recent memory, and it improved on a lot of Resident Evil 4's bullshit.
Its biggest downside is the lackluster story, and everyone on /v/ says story doesn't matter.
>>320887492
>>320887438
Is it normal to get pop-in whenever you enter an environment in the game?
The game runs in idtech 5, right?
Because I get the same issue in Wolfenstein
Game is bullshit. The enemies move around so much literally impossible to hit them with the pistol.
>>320887946
yes.
I finished the main game yesterday, started on the DLC today. I have definitely been enjoying it though it is with its flaws.
It wasn't THAT good nor THAT bad. Above average with its atmosphere and thematics, but falters hard in the gameplay. It's a lot like a good cheesy movie that is bad.
I would go into detail but it's all been said to death before.
Evil Within = 6/10
>>320887492

The fuck are you talking about?

>Game is bullshit. The enemies move around so much literally impossible to hit them with the pistol.
I had no trouble with that. If you have issues just shoot them in the legs first.
RE4 i s my GOAT game and I was hyped as fuck for this. Story was ass. And the stealth felt forced (AI was pretty shit) but I enjoyed it. 1 hit kill bosses however, and lack of proper melee annoyed me. Also, if an enemy attacked near you you would teleport towards them into an animation. In re4 you could just dodge it.
>>320886560
>in reality it was like RE5 with even less unique content throughout the game
I liked the Evil Within for being new and different, yet hated RE 5 / 6 cause they were worse than dog shit. With dog shit, you know what it is, but with RE 5 'n 6, you don't know they're bad until you tried them, and realize that indeed, they are dog shit.
>>320888716
>Shit analogies
Nah.
>>320886289
>evil within
Best horror game in recent years.
Can't believe how hard people praised Alien but gave this game shit.
>>320889118
Alien = REmake
Evil Within = RE4
I can't fault you for liking Evil Within more but they're two completely different kind of games.
>Make enemies hard, with one hit kill bullshit
>Make protag super weak that encourages sneaking
>Having infinitely respawning enemies, forced fight segments you can't avoid, forced bosses, lack of ammo for half of the game, check points that punish exploration
Evil Within tried to mix stealth with action and failed. That's its biggest fault. Splinter Cell tried this too, and also failed.
>>320887238
>for being cross gen
If it needs qualifiers, it wasn't gorgeous.except system settings
>>320889306
>Muh Stealth
Chapter one is all Stealth ( although hardly since you have ammo, keys and haystacks ) but after that you never need to stealth again. Did you even play the game m8?
>>320889449
Crysis is gorgeousfor a video game. Go outside
>>320889070
It fits, the modern RE games were horrendous, atrocious, unforgivable and more. They were so bad, it's a wonder Capcom continued the series or that people bought them, including me. Yet in my defense, I bought each for $15 in sales, only because I'm a long time RE fan.
Who the fuck wants co-op action in their survival horror? Dead Space 3 went this route too. Time and again, we see first hand that survival horror isn't a genre that mixes well with others. It's a very specific genre with a niche audience.
>>320889306
You could be plenty stealthy during the first third of the game. You could take out or sneak past most enemies no problem. During the middle of the game it mixed in more action and the last chunk went back to less action.
Also, some people claim this is a difficult game and that a bunch of enemies are "bullshit", but really this game gives you so many OP as fuck tools and shit to deal with the enemies it baffles me how hard people whine.
The crossbow especially can turn enemies and even bosses into jokes, so long as you use the proper bolts and don't waste them. Disarming traps gives you a shit ton of scrap.
Only boss I had issues with was the one in the underground garage (chapter 10 I think) and it took me like 2-3 tries.
I also naturally turned off the aids like the eye notification and stuff.
You don't look well. You should take better care of yourself.
>>320889479
>Did you even play the game m8?
I've been found out. You got me. All the negatives I mentioned were figments of my imagination, flights of fancies.
I really liked it. I was kind of disappointed how it turned into more action packed further into the game, but I still enjoyed it.
>>320890016
If that's your screen you should know you can turn off the black borders.
>>320886289
I liked it. Pretty fun.
>>320890347
Fucking HOW? They marketed this game as an ACTION game. Well at least you got stealthy DLCs
>>320890694
Never saw the marketing. A friend told me about it before he got into the more "action-y" parts and I picked it up.
>>320890014
>Only boss I had issues with was the one in the underground garage (chapter 10 I think) and it took me like 2-3 tries.
I wish I had taken more pics of the boss, but it was an intense cat and mouse boss, where you had to hide and get your attacks in during the moments when it was distracted.
I shot it then ran into hiding for shits and giggles and was surprised it crushed me along with the car. Not many bosses do that in vidya, where they take away your safe zones.
>>320886289
It wasn't good, just average. Nothing special overall.
>>320891137
>>It wasn't good, just average. Nothing special overall.
better than most shit scary jump games from the last decade, not great as the first RE or SH, but not bad as outlast
>>320886289
It was pretty good, but it would have been better without that terrible trap disarming mechanic and having to disarm them every fucking where you go.
