How are you guys enjoying 5? Anyone beat the story yet?
I'm 85 hours in on my EX Hard run and going for that sweet 100%.
I did everything with Kiryu but have not bothered to do any side stuff since, just got to Project Diva: Haruka edition, makes a nice break I guess

That's pretty much what I did. Just so you know you can't make a clear save data from premium adventure mode so everything you do in premium adventure won't carry to a new playthrough so it's a good idea to focus on the story and 100% the game on EX Hard after you beat the story.
What other job minigames are there? I've finished most of the hunting one so far.

I didnt like 4. Boring gameplay, more cutscenes than Metal Gear Solid. The "exploration" is done terribly too.

You're 3/4 of the way through. Just Wesker, CIA Twin Dad and Mine left to beat. 4 felt way shorter to me despite having a similar length due to the four playable characters and quick chapters. Leveling up in 4 and 5 makes 3's pace look positively glacial.

I think it's better to play them in order because you can see the evolution and refinement of the franchise with every game, whereas you can jump straight into 5 and have a blast but it can negatively impact your reaction to earlier games in the series.
I sold pretty much everything I carried with Akiyamaand his soulto the pawn shop to get a S rank with Honoka. She also kinda grew on me, her casual outfit makes she look better and all. Still weakest hostess.

Weapon Skill levels are so annoying. I mean I guess it's nice that there's reason to use different types of weapons now, but durability makes it such a pain in the ass. Even if you only pull them out for heat moves, shit like hammers break almost right away.
Also maybe it's just me but I have a lot of trouble pulling off heat moves that involve running into multiple enemies, compared to Yakuza 3 and 4 i.e. Essence of Terror and the knife one. I always end up either doing a Komaki Reversal or just stabbing the nearest guy if I have a knife. Is there a trick to it or what?

Run into a guy who isn't attacking but do it before you get within stabbing distance. Bear in mind you can sometimes pull off Heat moves without the icon popping up, Kiryu can pull off the attack before the game has time for the icon to pop up, so just keep pressing triangle.

I don't mind the addition of Climax Heat, I just wish they had used it to reduce the amount of "health flashing red" shit moves instead of increasing it. Could have just been more context based like:

You can only catch certain fish at certain times of day. You cycle through all 3 times of day in the final chapter so it's probably the best time to get them. Plus, Akiyama gets an accessory that makes fishing easier, and you can't use that on the other characters until the last chapter

What is considered the high point and the lowpoint of the series? I'm playing these games in order and dead souls. Well, I'm a bit biased when it comes to the samurai games. I love that period and I'm a huge fan of the way of the samurai games and the Vagabond manga. Playing a game all about about Musashi kept me entertained from beginning to end.
Dead Souls had some nice fan service and a decent story, but the gameplay didn't appeal to me at all and the piss poor framerate made things even worse. Only Yakuza game I had to force myself to finish.
I really hate the structure of 4/5. Sega needs to Sonic Adventure the games if they're going to keep throwing lots of playable characters at us.
Don't answer everything, but give each one a definitive end instead of this go-nowhere cliffhanger stuff, and for god sake let us choose which order to play them in.

I don't remember taxi driving or hunting in Yakuza 4. Hostess minigame is greatly improved in Yakuza 5. Karaoke got new songs. Why the fuck are people even comparing AC to Yakuza in the first place?
AC is a AAA game with a larger budget and a ton of marketing behind it. Yet even with all the money they dump into it, ubishit can't even release the games without a ton of bugs or without rehashing everything outside of the new settings.
The Yakuza games are some of those mid level games that seem to be dying these days. They don't sell anywhere as much as AC, nor do they cost as much to develop.
Reusing assets is how they can lower the costs and keep the series going with less than a million sales each year. Even then, they still manage to add small improvements and new modes and features with each new game.

I quite enjoyed dialogue missions, they were a nice change of pace. But yeah, I'm kinda disappointed that there's only a handful of normal driving missions.
