No it was because of the totem mechanic. They tried it with four Links first but found that people would just split into two groups most of the time.

Super Mario Maker and Witcher 3 are the only games this year I'd truly consider great, although I should mention of all the "major" 2015 releases, I haven't played XCX yet.
Splatoon is fun for like 45 minutes and I get why people like it, but I didn't love it.
