people make white characters because if you make them asian, black or whatever,
a)You'll get criticized for stereotyping.
b)not representing certain group in a positive light
c)it doesn't behave like that group it represents but if you do, you'll face a) and/or b)
Anyone can write a white character and nobody minds but if a white writes a nonwhite, people demand is racist, sexist or whatever and will demand you to have a token person in your team regardless if it doesn't do shit.
Diversity in videogames is shit because you can't please all and i find no problem if the character is white

There are lots of white men in games because nobody cares about them. Nobody makes a big political deal about how they're portrayed.
White men can be villains. White men can be dim-witted comic relief. White men can be lecherous drunks. White men can be cowardly losers. White men can be vain and shallow. This is understood to be a single character, not a statement about ALL white men.
By demanding that all female characters be Strong Feminist Role Models (tm), you discourage writers from giving them flaws like human beings, and that's just as much an unrealistic standard as the thin busty babes you rail against.
It's not going to change unless third-wave Feminism accepts that a female character does not represent all women.
