Shitty pacing but it's my favorite SH game
I really like it. I enjoyed the music. When I was young, I had a crush on Her. I kept playing the demo disc from my friends house till I owned it myself. I wasn't really scared of it except for a few scenes.
an alright game
I always thought of it as a rethread of the original SH on a later-gen console, only somehow less impressive. The openness of the psx game (and even SH2, though to a lesser degree) gave it addtional sense of dread that the linearity of SH3 lacked
after the twin-perfect vids, everyone seems to have flocked to this game viewing it as the pinnacle of the series, which I thought was kinda... meh
it's by far the most straight-forward SH game made by Team Silent

Plus they never said the body wouldn't be in the car. It's just not in the trunk, and that's pretty much confirmed by devs and Cihi.
One thing I do know is that burning people was not part of the SH1's lore's ritual, and that PH as it is portrayed in SH2 is exclusive to James. The other "variants" luckily are slightly off both design and behavior-wise, though most of them originate from the terrible Movie, that simply ripped PH for the sake of having recognizable elements from the games, in the films.

Good, but very uneven compared to the previous two. Parts of the game range from great to terrible, with 'terrible' monopolizing the first quarter of the game.

Visually it's not true though, he literally saw the picture "Misty Days: Remains of Judgement" back when he visited the town with Mary, and this image of a executioner was used to form the same punisher in his desire to punish himself.
The image of SH 2's Pyramid Head is connected to the town's lore, hence Valtiel's robe and gloves being exactly the same
I think the series was played out at 3, how many times can you recycle the same shit like a hospital/sewer/amusement level, they ran out of ideas a long time ago.

SH4 is pretty damn good and atmospheric horror game, and still worth giving a shot. It was however the more experimental of all the Team Silent's games, so the gameplay is quite different from 1-3.
I also quite liked Shattered Memories, but it's more of an experience for fans of 1 & 3. As a horror game, it's laughably easy and not spooky.
