RTS Thread
Post favourite units; discuss strategies; shit on Cybran/Nod/USSR players
>>320814810
Remember: Better Dead than Red!
Anyone tried this ?
Look like supcom with better graphic, but It's 50 bucks and I dont want to get baited by early access
>>320816049
I didn't think it had released yet; even in early access
but yeah a ton of people are hype
>>320814810
>cybtran/nod/USSR
Incidentally the best factions in their respective games, with maybe the exception of nod outside of Kane.
I like cybran solely for their walking ships and all their delicious stealth units, even if their navy gets fucked in T2 if UEF players start shitting out T2 Missile cruisers. Everyone always forgets to build tacmissile defense.
Are the wargame RTSs worth playing?
>>320814810
>shit on Cybran/Nod/USSR players
Right now the USSR is the worst faction in that non-dead RTS that isn't SC.
>>320816049
From what I've heard, it's still a bit too unstable (a given, considering it is a hardware pushing game and those were never good at betas and shit like that... they come from an age when pre-release meant pre-release).
In other news, the positions at CA for the Halo Wars 2 team are slowly filling up.
Can a ragtag bunch of interns and newbies do better than Ensemble at its peak?
Aeon players are literally cucks
Cybran players are edgy 10 year old faggots
Seraphim players are weeabo jewish faggots who Aeon losers have cucked themselves too
and last, but by far not least, glorious UEF players are true red blooded American patriots who are men's men, alphas, masculine in all regards and literally can fuck anyone up in anyway.
These are the facts, sorry cybraniggers
>>320816905
the first halo wars was shit, so i sure hope so
>>320817281
You're just jelly of our Independence Day re-enactions.
>>320817421
Ensemble didn't get enough time to make the game, though.
>"The SelectAll button from Halo Wars. I hated it then and still hate it now. It was such a cave against the fact that we just couldn’t make the UI work well enough. We couldn’t get control groups to work the way we wanted and we were out of time (being that the studio was getting closed and all). We added it to make the game “as playable as possible”. It instantly had the expected effect. It was so easy to use that it became all anyone ever used. It really un-did a lot of the fine work that went into unit differentiation and special abilities. But, without it, the game wouldn’t have been playable."
See, the interns at CA might as well think these issues were intended and keep them.
That's my greatest worry about that game.
>>320817832
>ensemble employees now produce mobile games and orcs must die
like tears in the rain
>>320817832
I have to hope CA comes back
I wish there were more games like Battlezone, where you build a base and units but are also driving around in a tank yourself.
AoE II player here, how do I 'get' into SupCom?
Should I even bother with the vanilla campaigns? They feel like more of a chore than AoE II's own.
obligatory
>>320818229
Hey, at least the Orcs Must Die is doing relatively well and is of reasonable quality (o idea abaout the ASSFAGGOTS none, though).
I'm more sad for the peeps at BonusXP doing Servo right now because that game really doesn't look like anything I, or anyone really, would like to play despite their best intentions.
>>320818585
Always bet on blue baby
>>320818585
damn, red had that in the bag, poor fucker
>It will soon be a wasteland
best unit coming thru
>>320818957
Boo, the original is better.
Thats a sexy looking ship you have there.
>>320816049
honestly its more like sins of a solar empire than supcom
the maps are divided into regions with control points and limited resource nodes, units come out in small groups and can be attached to the larger ships
its reminiscent of supcom but not the same
>>320819212
>ships
I thought it was only ground based?
I just got back into Rome: Total War recently and it's great fun. The Total Realism mod's made it interesting again for me.
>>320817421
I think it did enough right to be more than playable, but purely as an rts it's kind of shit I agree.
The music, visual design, Haloness of it and general presentation were more than on point. I think that the game actually did everyone other than being a functional rts excellently.
>>320819212
>honestly its more like sins of a solar empire than supcom
Makes sense, being a game done by SoaSE devs AND originally being referred to as SoaSE on the ground before realizing they're missing the 4X aspect (and that there's big money in SupCom clones - viz. PA).
I found CnC3 to be quite good to be an EA title, the gameplay was fun to play and the campaign was also entertaining.
However, I find ridiculous how the technology feels downgraded compared to tiberian sun.
>>320819848
Oh it's simple.
Back in 1999, the big thing was SCI-FI so Tiberium went full bonkers copying Dune 2 (Sonic Tanks - Disruptors, Fremen - Mutants), Starcraft (Siege Tank - Tick Tank, Golden minerals - Blue tiberium), Dark Reign (Subterranean units),...
Honestly. I prefer the slightly less sci-fi Tiberian universe compared to the SCI-FI of Tiberian Sun and C&C 4.
>>320820142
>Golden minerals - Blue tiberium
Wait a minute... Broodwar never had any golden minerals, that crap was added in sc2.
>Played Berbers campaign of AoE II African Kingdoms last night
>Beat 3 of 5 scenarios
>Start up game
>All progress lost
FUCK
>>320819064
Where can I buy one?
>>320820960
Start again, do it for Alberto.
>>320819064
Mean green and unseen
>>320821028
I already did the Portugal campaign. All what's left is the Berbers as far as AoAK goes.
Don't think I'll ever touch the AoF ones, not just by virtue of a lack of VA but apparently there's designated combat zones and shit.
best god right here
>>320821093
this needs to be a block wider on the base but not the turret
Capturing the enemy base with these babies is maybe the most rewarding experience in the whole game. Other than steamrolling the enemy with glorious Terminator+Pantsir deathball of course.
New footage when
>>320822702
Do you think they'll show some gameplay before release?
It's not like they can actually benefit from it in any way.
>>320822702
So what will make this RTS special? Does it look worth getting?
>>320824589
Nothing really
It might have good music. But gameplay wise it wont be different from other rts games
>>320824589
probably nothing special but forged alliance has been without a successor for 8 years
>>320822702
>has a unit that sprays a shitton of AoE missiles continuously
This is my fetish
>>320824589
I think it'll just be another Homeworld 2 (run of the mill RTS with a gimmick of moving bases and that's it).
I'd love to be proven wrong, of course.
bunp
Did the Endless Team ever announce them making an RTS?
