I feel like playing something in a disparate open world that isn't complete and total schlock like Witcher 3, or Fallout 4. The only game that comes to mind is Mad Max. Thoughts? Should I pick this up? I'm not one to give a shit about side quests, and objectives, so the quest-a-thon nature of these games doesn't bother me. I mainly stick to the campaign.

By the literal definition of "any", I'd say yes. It's good for about 3 minutes.

this game did so not have to be open world, and it seriously hurts because of it. It's spread way too thinly across it's 30+ hours, when >>320798731
is right: it's good for about 3 minutes, then it's the same shit for the next couple dozen hours. Driving the car is satisfying. Liberating your first couple outposts is satisfying. Collecting food and scrap to get those precious upgrades initially is super satisfying. But it suffers from the same fate as MGSV, incredible repetition to pad it out.

My biggest gripe is that it wasnt open enough

should have had

>storage in the car
>Actually make gas fucking scarce. You either get it from doing merc work or robbing people of it

I thought it was a good game and I enjoyed it. But like Fury Road, the ditch the Interceptor (which itself is a character) at the beginning, which I found irritating because I really wanted to travel in it. The Magnum Opus kinda made up for it, since customizing it to your needs and play style was fun.

Playing it for the campaign is doing the open world nature of Mad Max a disservice.

I have played the game for 50 hours and still haven't completed the main campaign.

imo, it shoulda been open world similar to the witcher 2. Meaning you play in a big setpiece and you do a bunch of stuff then move to the next. Mad max is great visually but i just think the mad max style lends itsself to a more movie type story arc. The open world wasnt bad but just samey, whereas if it was kinda episodic or something the progression would have felt a little better...Maybe...you never know

also this, i was expecting some realism mods or something but the game just died which is sad.
Theres a seriously good survival Mad Max game hidden under the hood there, they just need to make a better food and water system, scavenging for parts less "40 parts gives me spikes" and more so "I need to find 5 scrap metal and some rubber to have a spare tyre for when shit hits the fan" or something..
Basebuilding would be rad.
and yeah, less taking on 15 dudes at a time batman style and more shotgun a guy and everyone becomes wary or run off scared...because, and i know they were crazy, but the warboys seemed to just not give a fuck at all about self presevation and i know thatts just a game mechanic for the fighting but still..
