>game set in the future
>currency is in credits
>>320768292
its logical.
technically 70% of todays currency is nothing but a credited IOU to 3 families controlling all the banks. and nothing more.
it be easier just calling it what it is instead of money.
It's just a trope of science fiction based on extrapolations of current practice around currencies.
Why does it bug you?

>Game set in medieval times or further back
>Currency is gold
>>320768292
>currency is just "gold"
>>320768507
>>320768509
It should be silver, gold is too valuable to be used as a standard. Gold just represents more value in silver.
>game takes place in the present
>money is the Australian Dollar
>>320768575
It always inflamed my autism how a gold coin is usually about equivalent to a penny.
Why do you have to get like 200 gold as a tiny reward? Just make it 2 gold coins, everything in stores costs multiples of 100 anyway.
>>320768786
>life takes place in the present
>pay is in Australian dollars
why even live
>>320768918
World of Warcraft does that well interestingly.
Well, it does at lower levels anyway.
At higher levels crazy quests should get rewarded in rare items, jewels and gold bars if the value of somebody defeating a demon army or something is insanely high. Not like 20000 gold coins.
It's a small thing to worry about in a game though.
>>320768405
wow do you know about the illerminaughty?
>>320768292
It's all credit, fgt.
I'm not doing all of that code for some inflationary fiat currency that might not exist when people pull their heads out of their collective asshole and see the light.
>Currency are two foot tall gems
>>320769025
Because said rare items would be inflated to a sense of worthlessness, just like current currency in whatever game.
>>320769279
>Because said rare items would be inflated to a sense of worthlessness
True, this is a problem with all MMO markets.
Hell, all digital currencies in real life too.

Like 75% of all the gold ever mined is in vaults right now. Another 15% is in rings and other jewelry.
Gold is expensive because people horde it.
If all of that entered the market as coins, then they would be worth like a penny.
>>320769387
It's me again, I don't even MMO but its common sense.
I still go all Federal Reserve in Skyrim, though with item duplication glitches.
>>320773368
Well that's your fault for breaking the economy.
Although yeah, you don't even have to for that to occur naturally.
There ISN'T a finite amount of resources in Skyrim, new stuff pops into existence.

That's true, but people pay a lot for rare chips. Just one evening farming chips in the undernetwith your overpowered naviand you're rich.
>>320776343
Well, you need to be the hero for that. Most people are shmucks who lose battles against mettaurs and set Recover 10 as their default chip.
>>320776573
It always bothered me that most people have shitty generic Navis where it seems that it's not that hard for normal people to get a good one.
