I've been playing him as a more tanky carry now. Lina, Zeus, Skywrath, any of those high damage nukers that attempt to kill through a lot of burst damage spells with low cooldowns can't even touch me now. Chronosphere still gets the biggest use when you build like a glass cannon, but I've started pairing myself with powerful ranged heroes instead and letting them get the most use out of things.

Dota2 matchmaking is almost as good as it can possibly be. 5v5 random matches are difficult to get right. You can't get a good match quickly and every time, it will however do a great job over multiple samples.
The meta is fine. We get multiple trends each patch anyway. There's no clear cut "viable"/"not viable" line anyone can see. Even stupid shit flies in lower brackets.

But dealing with large skill range parties is what the matchmaking has to do. You can't just not do it. Ranked has a 2k range limit, but for normal anything goes.
Parties of 2 in ranked solo games are a bit iffy, but they do help keep the queue time down. For both solo queue and the party of 2, which now has more potential match ups than with just 2-3.

The eddies were here. However, Geki started growing older. Then younger. He was changing age as he rotated with the eddy. Then Geki realized this river was time.
Gabe reached out from the sky with a hand made of plastic; "Take my hand, Geki." Geki reached out. His hands extended just far enough to reach the hot dog oil on the tips of Gabe's fingers. Geki was magnetized to Gabe now. Geki levited away from the time eddy, and saw what was below him. Geki saw everything that ever was, is, and will be. He saw the river of time, perched on the shoulders of Gabe. His shoulders felt like mounds of milk duds. Then, Geki asked Gabe a question: "What happened to Void? Why is he like this now?"
Gabe responded: "That is a question for another being."
Gabe then plucked Geki off his shoulder, and used his meaty strength to fling Geki to the faraway lands of Mangopolis. Here in Mangopolis, there lived only one being: Icefrog.

Geki trudged through the mango-ravaged wastes of Mangopolis, with his only motivation being to get to Icefrog. He used his legs. Geki walked along the wall, looking for an entrance. He could not find one, even when he used his legs to walk. Geki was hopeless. How would he ever get to Icefrog and know why he has brought this pain upon the Faceless One?
Then, an oracle appeared. No, not the rock or the water which was in a river, but THE oracle.
Earth Spirit came out of the ground near Geki and spoke to him in tongues, or rather, in rocks. Geki remembered the rock from the first paragraph. He realized Earth Spirit was the one guided him through this journey.
Earth Spirt told Geki: "I see you are low on mana... might want to have a little... mango..."
Earth Spirit slowly dissolved back into the earth.
Geki knew what he had to do.
Geki started using his teeth to bite down and chew through the great wall of Mangos. He kept chewing and chewing and chewing until he could chew no more, and then he chewed some more. His teeth were turning to mush, but he was still tunneling through with all his might. When all of Geki's teeth were gone, he could go no further. However, he realized his mana pool was completely full, and he had enough energy to claw his way through now. He destroyed the remaining width of the wall, and finally broke through into a shining, blinding abyss. He was falling now.

They nerfed his INT gain from 3.3 to 2.7
His Astral no longer steals INT so he lost the biggest reason he dominates lanes.
There's still no reason to take Orb pre level 7.
His ultimate no longer has an instant 26 INT difference from maxed Astral Imprisonment and will deal less than 200 damage to most heroes.
You now need to land five attacks on a max level Arcane orb to actually have your ult up to the old potential - this doesn't fix his core problems of shitty ranges and no farming mechanism in any way.

Only got to play 1 game so far, went 3/11/18 but I was able to rat us back the game at 50+ minutes. Felt alright. He's kind of iffy, still don't know whether laning him mid is the best option. I feel like you're missing out on a solid core if you let him go there. On one hand you have heavy rat potential, on the other you're missing a strong team component. The best thing about rats like NP is that they aren't in the mid lane or another crucial lane. Anyone got any tips?

sure, the learning curve is a bitch and the community is very unforgiving to new players, but once you understand how to playafter a hundred or so games of being a fucking shitterit's pretty fun
most people quit because they don't understand how shit works, and then when inevitably the game tilts in the other team's favor (because one weak link can bring the whole team down) they call it bullshit. It's also fairly difficult to see how high the skill ceiling actually is when you're bad at the game
honestly the variety of gameplay in dota is something I really haven't found in any other multiplayer game, save for MMORPGs
doesn't have the pace of other comp games like CPMA or a true RTS, but it's still pretty well designedto be honest familia

There just isn't any way to to play dota properly if you don't have a group of people you know who want to play together and improve.
