Well it's not dead, you have to consider that the only people who really know about it are PR players. Most PR players won't switch over until it has more content.

The way to "save" it is to promote it. The team focused gameplay and build system will help make it stand out.

If the team manages to fix the UE4 multiplayer capabilities it will be good.

Also implement all the features of PR. So it should be complete in a year or two.

It's actually a very nice way to filter the shitters. In a way, it's an extension of the kickstarter.

The ones that aren't necessarily interested and don't really want to support the project will be rebutted by the pricetag, others won't.

200 does not =50. Absolutely not. I've had hundreds of literal dice roll cqb firefights and sniper shots not register for half seconds and magic bullets that hit around corners. These are all symptoms of lag and slow server update rates.

Did you fire as the server was sending an update or did your enemy fire as the server sent an update? This could cost you your life.

Tick rate influences ping. A low tick rate of 10 adds about 166 ms to the ping, this results in everyone having a 200-300 ping. The ping displayed in game factors in tick rates, so if anything it's more accurate than most games ping displays.


Once they figure out the net code and how to make UE4 run on servers with more than 1 core then the game will be much better for players and server hosts.

Actual pings, as displayed by the console command, is low and typical of whatever your connection can normally get.

But the ping display factors in tick rate. Most servers are low tick, update, rate because it takes a lot of hardware to push huge maps and tons of content to 50-100 players. Servers are further handicapped because UE4 can only run on single core servers right now. If the servers tried to run a higher tick rate, then the servers would be unplayably laggy.

Once the team figures out how to fix the net code and make UE4 capable of running on more than one core it will be good.

I'm not sure if either of those goals are even possible. In which case we've been bamboozled.

But if they can figure these things out then we'll have a great game.

Too high of a price for EA? Especially considering how EA games turn out 90% of the time and tacticool shooters aren't exactly the biggest sellers to begin with, I can see how the game's dead on arrival.
