Its really just not something I am aesthetically interested in.
The UI is horrid, there is nothing redeeming about the UI.
The characters are too large I think, and I've never been a fan of mixing painted looking resources with shiny plastic 3d resources (look at how out of place the slugs look compared to the wall.
The bottom left character in the battle screenshot looks ok, but the "super hero" to the right of him looks.... like a rip off of bat man. I don't really know what its supposed to be.
The golem is the best looking enemy by far, even tho ugh you cant tell that he has a face.

in this screenshot, the character portrait looks ok, just a bit cliche. Again, the UI looks completely horrid (why is there lens flares on the portrait? why does everything look plastic?).
Its the hallmark of a a shitty photoshop artist, they make everything look shiny and new like plastic, and it loses all texture, individuality, style and soul.
The actual tiles and map look pretty decent, but some things aren't blended properly.
my advice would be to try to slightly downscale the resolution of the graphics so its not so "new" looking.
this is just me, but I think that kind of style is really just... ugly.
you know how to draw, make sprites, map environments and anatomy, there is a lot of good going on here. Just put way more effort into some of the things that stand out really bad.
look at the top of the wall, at that thing that looks like the border of the text box, then look at that awesome looking pot you made...
those two things should not exist in the same game together.

Not the anon that you asked but in my opinion, it seems like it's got too many influences (primarily in hokey 90s styles) that all clash rather than blend.
The character sprites look like a halfway point between Days of Ruin and Mortal Kombat. The worm looks like a 90s sci-fi CGI creature, and the Golem looks like he could've been ripped out of Myst. The battle background is okay by itself, but its probably stock and the nostalgic SNES style just further clashes with everything else (and I think the fact the characters are twice the height of the doorway is cartoonishly silly). To cinch it off, the UI is too sleek for the 90s vibe everything else seems to have going on.
I think the first screenshot, while not my cup of tea, style wise, is much more tonally consistent. I would focus on refining that style and trying to get everything to fit within it rather than branching out to so many other things.

If you're asking about RPG Maker games in general, then a lot of these games rely on imagination. It's weird how times have changed. One could argue that in "ye old days" there wasn't good hardware to make realistic scenes like today, so people used imagination to fill in the gap.
Once could ask the question "How can people spend hours reading a book?". It's the same concept, you yourself are making things more interesting with your own imagination.
