Just been fucking around in training since it doesn't want to connect to any games.

Some minor complaints:
>Games UI gets fucked up once I alter the settings. Things like the V trigger and CA meters look blurry and low res as a result, despite it looking fine during the Ryu/Ken intro while the beta code was downloading.

hope you're all enjoying it though. Laura is fun and dare I say the sexiest addition in a long time. Her English VA is kind of shit though. Birdie is as good as ever. Still definitely my main.

Why can't Capcom still into netcode? For fucks sake. It's not budget. Fucking GG Xrd's netcode is just fine. Yet in this game, everyone fucking teleports, even if they live close by.

I'm currently very frustrated. They shat allover the netcode for a start, in the last Beta I had maybe ONE laggy game. Now the rollback is awful in every single match, with my search filter to best connections only. I can't even make sense of whats happening on the screen because of the jittering about. I can land a small combo, have that damage be replenished and teleport into a grab that happened 2 seconds ago in another dimension. I have a good connection, by the way.Everyone can just jump tick throw, and you'll be in the animation before you get a chance to tech.

As for the character, never mind the simple fact that every one has been nerfed into oblivion, the game doesn't even have COMBOS anymore. You can m/h into a special move, or target combos. That's it. Probably 1/2 at most can use their V-skill for a shitty combo extension not worth shit. Some characters cant even link two jabs. Their attempts at 'simplifying' the game are quickly butchering the damn thing. Again, Beta 2 was much more interesting but STILL simple enough that new players could maybe have a chance. A fucking toddler can do some easy combos in beta 2/sfIV, but WE can't do any at all, apparently.

I really want to love this game, I was so excited when beta 2 came to an end, and I'm not completely out of hope, because it's still pre release... but I would rather go and play IV or GGxrd at this point. And, again, my feelings couldn't have been more different in beta 2.

Beta 2, IV and GG FEEL right. This FEELS all wrong.

It seriously depends on the connection. I noticed that people with a great connection have very short loading times on the ps4 (5-10 seconds), but when it's a less than optimal connection it's ranging from 15 to 30 seconds.

I'm really excited now.

While I don't think SFIV was an awful game, I truly think it was a bad game. I hated so many things about it. I hated how braindead the mechanics were yet how it was combined with an extremely non lenient combo and meta game that forced you to learn shit tons of option selects, input workarounds, and sit in training mode practicing small chains that should not be difficult to do. I also really hated the wakeup game in IV. Probably the worst oki game I've seen in any fighting game

V fixed a lot of the problems I had with IV, at least based off of the four or so hours I played the beta with some long time fighting game friends.

It offers actual options for the person who got knocked down, and helps create more opportunities to try to outplay the person on offense, or read the person on defense.

It makes the game much better paced despite being slower than IV. It is far more about fundamentals now. It makes using a character like Birdie really rewarding because you can put all your effort into strong spacing and actually get out on top.

I also really like how zoning feels right now. It reminds me more of KoF in that it is a tactic, but rarely ideal and it requires a lot more careful play than it did in IV.

I thought I would hate the V-Skill and V-Trigger system, but so far they are pretty enjoyable all things considered. I especially like the ones that are just an additional move, like Vega and Dhalsim. It's almost like a pseudo super move in that regard. They went all out with Birdie's though. Meter management with him is very entertaining.

I had two laggy games today and I played over 30, and that's with my connection set to any. As for combos, I haven't noticed anything different from last test except for Ryu. Execution seems a lot tighter than before as well, combos are still there, it's just that the framelinks are reduced by 1 or 2 frames, making it a lot harder to pull it off.

What I am not a fan of are the inputs though. SFIV had complete shit input recognition. It made it hard to do strings into DP without sometimes getting supers, or quarter circle inputs from crouching without getting a fucking command grab. Loose inputs are the worst in a fighting game. This is what makes Arcs and SNK games feel so much better to work with. Tight input recognition is great.

SFV's input recognition is arguably even worse than IV. I remember watching streamers keep getting Ryu's super when just trying to do shoryuken. Command grabs are still basically a fucking half circle input I don't even know why they are listed as a full circle anymore.

Also, I am not a fan of the moveset gutting. A lot of characters got a bunch of moves removed with no payoff to it and it makes many characters feel extremely one dimensional. Best example I can think of is Zangief. The removal of green hand makes spacing and pressure with him feel so much more one dimensional. The inclusion of the air command throw is brilliant though and his animations are by far the best done.

The game to me is what SF has always meant to be. SFIV took it the wrong way. These games were always the easiest to pickup among the major fighters, and usually had the lowest mechanical skill needed to do combos and such. I'm really enjoying the short combos most characters can do and the huge emphasis on good spacing and fundamentals.

This game feels like a real return to SF.

My thoughts on the characters in Beta 3. I never got to play this game prior.

>Laura

She really struck me as a throw-away T&A character in the trailers, but she's actually really cool. She's a character like Deejay done right in that she's happy and upbeat without seeming retarded and obnoxious (like Rashid). Her theme gets you pumped, her voice is great, and her animations are all really lively. She's extremely well done.

Moveset wise I like her a lot. She's simple, but surprisingly interesting. Many of her normals feel pretty unique and her projectile and V-Skill really make her a blast to play.

>Cammy

She reminds me a lot of her IV incarnation, and that's not a good thing. Capcom just can't design rushdown characters well anymore.

>Chun Li

I like how many command normals she has. They took out some of her special moves, but essentially gave normal equivalents which is cool. I also really like that they brought back some of her normals from SF3. She feels pretty boring to use though honestly. Ever since IV they've made Chun Li so dull to play. She feels so floaty and weak compared to how she was in 2, Alpha, and 3.

>Birdie

They ruined his design, which was already shit, but they made his moveset 10 times better. He definitely stole the show. If we are just talking movesets and voice, I don't know how you can even play other characters when he's in the game. Everything about him feels perfect. His normals and specials are unique as fuck and he commands the screen. He is in total control at all times and he manages to do this without any of the regular zoning or spacing tools you might expect to see. I love that they made his chains more relevant to his moves too. Tons of fun.

They really hit a home run with Vega too. They weren't afraid to change him up a lot and it paid off big time. The stance mechanic is too cool and I love his new costume.

Can someone give me a rundown about some newcomers? Like some combos for them and how to beat them?

I can't do anything in training mode because I get a match every 5 seconds and dont even have any time to set stun back to none.

Playing the PC beta makes me rethink my decision to get the PC version. I've been putting money on the side to buy a gaming PC and SFV when it comes out, but this beta runs like shit on PC (I played it at a friend's house on PS4 yesterday and it ran much better). A lot of arcade sticks aren't supported right now either and I'm worried about them cracking down on costume mods somehow.

If you stream this game while having costume mods on, for example, well they ban your ass?

Also I'm worried about the regional stuff. I'm afraid the steam version might have regional restrictions on it and swapping regions is a huge pain. Crossplay seems a bit buggy too.

Pretty sure there are some crush counter hits from heavy you can combo into. Also you can mp and ex fireball and command dash towards or under the opponent if you are fast enough for a mix up. Unless of course they remove that before next beta.

Why the hell would they ever do that? The mod appears only to you, so it won't stop the opponent from having his fun and this isn't like hacking where you get an advantage of the opponent, the game will still play the exact same.

Part of the problem is the art direction. SFIV, xT, MvC3, and SFV all have shit tier art directions.

Too bad there is no option for it. In 2D fighters characters in the backgrounds could look great since they blended seamlessly into the background as just more pixels. It creates an almost painting effect and they can have limited animation or be completely static without looking awkward.

Dudley's various stages in the SF3 games is a great example of this.

In V and IV the characters are poorly rendered with a significant drop of quality compared to the playable characters. They animate much worse too, but for some reason the designers still felt the need to have them moving constantly. And there's so fucking much of it.

Modern SNK does this shit too. Why do fighting game stages have to be cluttered as fuck now? What happened to beautiful backdrops?

You come to realize why certain stages were always picked over others. Less busy meany better atmosphere.

Minus the African Savannah from SSFIV. That stage is god tier.

The V trigger is really cool in general. Haven't tried Chun but you can do cool things like cancel a fierce normal into that same fierce normal into a modified move into another modified move into a critical art. If you could spend more than 30 seconds in training before a new match I'm sure people could come up with some cool things. Few of which will probably still be viable at release.

I'll get like 2-3 hours of perfect quick matches, then it'll just turn to shit again. 70% it's my own fault for wireless but it seems to throw me back to training if it's the game/other players side. if It's my side then I disconnect from the game server completely and it goes to main menu.

Thing is that the matches themselves are lagless and fine.

Yeah, I agree with your sentiment. I'm actually a fan of learning more about a fighting game's story, but most people will tell you it's wasted resources. That aside, Ono mentioned he was fairly confident in the game's story mode, even saying that Ken's redesign came from it, (or they could just be trying to justify a story mode.) Most we can hope for is that they developed some way to create an expansive story mode that can be built on when new characters are implemented. Maybe that's what they're doing?

Story mode IS a waste of time and money. They should spend that money on presentation and gameplay instead. A clever story in a fighting game is one that lasts long without taking much development resources. Having tons of voice acting and cutscenes is a big no-no.

There will be changes to the game on beta. According to ComboFiend a shit load of buffs apparently.

Don't lose hope, friend, it IS a beta. Could be a myriad of reasons they made everyone pretty bare bones at the moment(When you think about it, it seems intentional in a testing sense when you look at how simplified everyone is).

Anyways, I had got a chance to play the beta for like an hour. Played SFIV prior, and SFV feels better, but I was doing so much scrubby sf4 shit, I barely edged out 10 wins compared to when I was just being celabate. My advice is to throw the sfiv mentality away and tie it in a chemical disposable bag, never to be opened a-fucking-gain. You'll definitely have more fun with everything that way.

We'll see. The most obvious comparison everyone keeps making is "is it going to be like MKX?" Considering that MKX is one of the top selling games of this year, I think Capcom's following the money more so than you'd like. Either way, I'm not sure if the resources that go into the story mode of a game take away resources from everything else. Could be a different team for that stuff, y'know?

I've had around 40~ matches today and I have to say that it's not fun at all. The first beta phase was amazing, every single character was fun to play, matches were fast but you still had to think. It was amazing. But this new version is terrible. All the matches are still fast but now there is no thought required at all, you are infinitely more rewarded for just dashing in and going insane on your buttons until the other person is dead. There is no strategy or thought required at all. I had more fun with vanilla street fighter 4 than this
