Do you use a OC controller anon?
Does it break every year forcing you to get a new one?
Do you use wireless or does the .00007 seconds of delay matter enough to you to get a chord.
>>
chord. i'm not casual scum
>>
>>320732519
Yes and no. I take care of my stuff. Mine still works after a year and some change
>>
I use the wireless version of that controller, F710 I believe, for most of the games I play. I've been using it for almost 3 years now, it's sturdier than what I expected. Since I'm not into competitive gaming, can't say the delay really bothers me.
>>
>>320732519
I've had a F310 for years and have had no problems with it. Its good for console retrogaming and games built for a PSX controller.

I also have a Steam Pad which is good for playing PC games with a gamepad particularly FPS games. Though it will never fully replace a mouse and keyboard.

I have the exact same controller and it never broke on me. I've been using it since the spring tho
>>
>>320732519
Prior to last week, I used xbone controllers wired via microusb.

Since last week, Microsoft made it so that the wireless dongle works with 7, 8.1 and 10.

Wireless Xbone controllers are the way to go.

>Literally no gamepad with decent d-pad.
What's the fucking deal?
>>
>>320732519
Had one of these it's shit
Get an Xbox 360 controller.
>>
>>320735592
If you want one for retro games, that Buffalo SNES controller is pretty good. If you are saying that all dpads in the existence are shit, well, I can't help you. I personally always liked Sony's dpads.
>>
>>320735841
There are good d-pads. Like the Saturn d-pad and Vita d-pad. But there really isn't an all-purpose gamepad with a good gamepad. I think DS3 is the closest anything has gotten.
>>
I bought a Logitech controller but the lack of vibration and lack of heft made me not want to use it.
I just got a cheap corded 360 controller, works much better
>>
>>320732519
Had that for about 4 years until the cable refused to work. Had to replace it and decided to get a 360 controller. It's great for a lot of games but then I realized I loved the F310 for its dpad and now I regret my 360 controller purchase.
>>
>>320736203
360 gamepad is probably the worst for d-pad and one severely overrated by many. Its greatest uses is for games that are already better on keyboard. DS3 is better in genres that actually require gamepad.
>>
>>320732519
I have a logitech similar to that one and its great. 20 bucks and I've had it for like 4 years

D Pad could be better though so I have a dualshock to usb for when I need a better one
>>
Been using one of these for 10 years. Have never had a problem with it.

>>320732519

I've been using the F310 for years now, and quite surprised how well it's held up for being only 15-20 bux

still mostly use mouse+leyboard for shooters, but I found the dpad surprisingly all right for my fightin' for a cheap-ass controller

still trying to score a cheap stick replacement though
>>
360 controllers are cheap as fuck. Why would you ever use that mad catz looking piece of shit?
>>
>>320732519
I have used a DS3 for the past 5 years and it's been chugging along great. The dpad and face buttons are my favorite when it comes to fighting games

Only problem is the latency when I use a bluetooth adapter
>>
I use a wireless 360 pad, a Wii U Pro and a Steam Controller regularly (depends on the game).

They all work great and I've never had a controller break ever and I've used almost all of them at some point or another since the 2600.
>>
Just use a fucking PS2 or PS3 pad. Best multi purpose pad.
>>
Dualshock 4, I can't ask for anything better really

I used to use an F310, it's decent but the triggers were too stiff for my taste
>>
>>320736647
Wait, does that work well with Guilty Gear? I need a new controller for that game.

>>320737163
DS3 is better than DS4. DS4 was made for shooters which are played with keyboard anyways.
>>
>>320737506
>DS4 was made for shooters

What. besides ergonomics (which are better on the DS4 IMO) and the touchpad the controllers are virtually identical.
>>
>>320737506
DS3 is too small. That was the only downside of that controller.
>>
>>320737629
The DS4 has greater emphasis on the FPS grip, with it being very ergonomic for two thumbs on stick and finger on the triggers. But it's not really ergonomic for fighters and 2D games since the d-pad is too far away from the base of the thumb and the d-pad being too stiff.
>>
Dualshock 3 with SCP drivers for modern stuff and newer emulators
Dolphinbar for Dolphin and using Wii fightsticks
Mayflash USB Classic Controller adapter and Logitech Dual Actions for 2D games that have movement mapped to the axis and can't be switched to the dpad.

I used to have F310s but the triggers wore out way too quickly, and the deadzones on the sticks were huge.

I like using it over years, and it works fine for me as a May player. But I'm also a weirdo who doesn't like the DS3+4 controller dpads yet hasn't tried an actual fightpad.

I'd recommend it, but maybe check out some actual fightpads first to see if you might like those more
>>
>>320737848
I don't replicate any of your complaints, I speedrun 2D platformers with the DS4 and the D-pad is very comfortable, in fact the DS4 was gotten partly to replace my Classic Controller Pro because though the D-pad on that is good it wore my thumbs out pretty quickly. The DS4 is also ergonomically shaped perfectly for my large hands whereas as >>320737824 said the DS2/3 are pretty small, so I have no trouble switching between the sticks and the shoulder buttons either.
>>
>>320732519

I use a dualshock 3 controller and it works fine on my PCs but it tends to like to ruin cables from time to time. I don't even know why, but I have to buy a new USB cable for it every 3-6 months or so.
I'm guessing my controller is just a fucking asshole and loves to give me grief.

Playing on PC with 360 pads.
I have 4 controllers since... 5 years ago and they work flawless right now.
I fully open and clean them every 2 years aproximately.
>>
>>320738582
Then I guess it's a matter of size. The DS4 is too big for me.
>>
>>320740379
Every fucking controller thread there's some faggot bragging about his dainty little hands.
>>
>>320740565
I have dainty little hands. I still found the DS1, 2, and 3 extremely painful. I say this as a fag that lived on the PS2. They're all too small.
>>
>>320736539

Consider yourself lucky, mine has a short in the wiring, so it shits in and out of being recognized on my computer. Now Im stuck with the shitty Xbox revision with crap trigger/bumper setup.
>>
>>320735592
Both the Xbox One and PS4 controllers have decent d-pads anon.
>>

Wii U Pro master race. Works with a 15 dollar adapter, or a bluetooth dongle if you want it bad enough. Over 30 hours of battery life, and it charges super fast, too. Nintendo accessories are built like fucking rocks, so it will probably never break. I've dropped it like 20 times. Also the D-Pad is the greatest D-Pad ever.

The only downside is the digital trigger, but aside from Gamecube emulation and racing games, it doesn't matter.
>>

>>
>>320741645
It's in the best spot anon.
>>320741658
True enough for the Pro controller.
>>
>>320732519

I've been using a DS3 for several years. It's held up pretty well considering how heavily I use it, but it's showing signs of wear. The right stick seems to lose signal sometimes forcing me to reset it's position (mostly a prevalent problem in twin stick shooters) while I've carved a groove into the left stick from riding the edge too often. The X button seems like it ignores presses every so often now.

There were some things I never liked about it. I'd prefer that L2 and R2 were actual buttons not only for responsiveness, but for compatibility. Being read as axes mean they unusable for a lot of games. The d-pad is kinda shitty, but I don't know of any all-purpose controllers that have a nice one.

I've tried a couple other controllers. I didn't like the 360 pad at all, everything felt cramped and I didn't like the button placement, particularly the bumpers. The Wii U controller is nice, but the PC adapter fucking sucks. I tried one like OP's picture. D-pad was finnicky and seemed to favor diagonals over cardinal directions, and had square gates with sticks that would spring back so hard that they'd go past neutral. You needed to set at least a 0.5 deadzone to play something like Ys.
>>
if you're looking for something good and compatible with literally everything, get the xbone controller, it's compatible with literally anything
>>
>>320742046
DS3 works on everything with Xinput Wrapper.
>>
DS3

>choice of xinput or dinput
>decent for both modern games
>proper dpad for retro games
>proper wired with standard mini usb cable
>bluetooth wireless with $1 non-proprietary dongle
>no shit fucking AA batteries
>optional motion control

Fucking perfect, would buy another one if it died on me.
>>
>>320742835
The only bad is the proprietary USB cable. The mini usb isn't standard.
>>
>>320742936
>mini usb isn't standard.
Hello millenial friend
>>
>>320742308

The controller does, yes, but L2 and R2 aren't registered as buttons sometimes due to the range of input from top to bottom. That'd be fine for racing or something, if I played those games.
>>

I play most games with a KB+Mouse but emulated games and shit like Dark Souls I'll play with the Wired Xbox Controller

I used to not like it, but it grew on me. It's a very high quality controller, just my hands are fucking massive so it's kind of bothersome
>>
>>320744006
And by, "my hands are fucking massive" I mean I can't comfortably rest the controller in my hands without gripping it, my thumbs meet no matter where I place them, and I can possibly hit all 4 buttons at the same time with my one thumb

It's just a teency bit too small. Not even "small"... cramped
