My city in Michigan recently closed down the last arcade that was running, pretty sad to see my childhood home shut down

1. Where are you from
2. Are there any active arcades near you?
>>
>Texas
Theres a few in Austin which isnt to far from me. Ive been to one. Mostly pinball machines though.

I remember when Fzero GX came out. I was so fucking pumped to bring my memory card to the Fzero GX arcade machine and use it for whatever purpose it had. Those machines never came.

Arcades are truly a dying breed.

Brighton has a really good arcade... called... The Arcade.

There was an amazing arcade called funtasia that closed down when I was 11. It had Battletoads, Super Mario World, The Simpsons, Xmen, Super Baseball 2020,Terminator 2, Bubble Symphony and so many others that I'm probably forgetting. On Tuesdays you could get 10 tokens for $1

>Went to see the new Star Wars.
>We're 30 minutes early and my friend and I notice there is an arcade in the theater. Get all excited and go to check it out.
>Has about 6 machines. 2 of them are crane scammers and the Time Crisis 3 machine was broken.

Why did arcades have to die?

gamers prefer to sit on their couches than going outside.

Ohio
Nope, we used to have a "modernized" arcade that had all the consoles and computers, but they mismanaged the shit out of the place and it went bankrupt. It still exists as a university "research" lab, but is no longer open to the public.

Galloping Ghost all the way. Best arcade I've ever been. Too bad it won't ever have any rhythm machines of any kind but it makes sense as a huge place of over 400 cabinets going off at the same time the noise will definitely be annoying.
>>
>Halifax
Yes, it even has a Black Knight 2000 table. Too bad this city is infested with faggots (both kinds) so I don't go out much.
>>
>Live in the Western New York area (Read: Buffalo)
>Multiple malls always teetering on the edge of closing down
>Every so often an arcade will pop up in far off corner store
>The same weak selection of games with faded, blurred displays placed in worn out, generic cabinets and unresponsive controls
>Place will be gone a few months later

There is a Dave and Buster's with a few decent games like the Mario Kart Arcade and Pump It Up 2013, I think. But mostly just token draining ticket games.

It's occurred to me that I haven't seen an actual real-life fighting game cabinet.

Movie theatre s are the only things with arcades these days where I am, we used to have these big namco arcades but those are gone now.

People tried to the beercade idea but it dried within a year mostly due to crappy management. Also the oldest machine they had was a barely working duck hunt

Lazer X had a large arcade, but it burned down last month. They are going to rebuild and be back for summer but who knows if they are going to replace all those machine. At least there is also a putt putt golf arcade nearby that has good selection of light gun games, my favorite being the original house of the dead.

Damn where can you get a neat carpet like that? When I searched for blacklight/neon carpets I only got pic-related eye-burning horrible mess as result

Hey I live in Austin, there's still a arcade called Pinballz. They have a ton of pinball machines, but they also have other games, I mostly play the fighters.
