That's the neutral ending, you get it on your first play through no matter what. If you did a complete pacifist run up to this point though, flowery tells you at the end of the credits you can go back to see alphy and do an exclusive event to the "true pacifist" run. Just reload your save, do it, and try beating the game again to get a different ending. However if you DID end up getting any exp or lv you gotta start the game all over again.

What you didnt do was complete the date with Papyrus. I went into his house and talked to him and stuff, and thought that was it.
But you actually have to click on the bed to start the actual date minigame. Then a lot of stuff will happen which leads to the true ending.
Also, the flower didnt ruin your save, he puts you just before you starts the fight with the boss, meaning you can go back and start the dates to get the true ending.

To do the pacifist run is to be vulnerable and to open yourself to being hurt by literally everything that comes your way, but it means meeting more characters and making friends.

Almost all the monsters deserve empathy. Monsters communicate with bullets, and they don't know you're a human. So when they approach the player character to say hello they shoot a bunch of magic at them, not knowing it would hurt them.
Also, the power gap between monsters and humans is so great a single child can murder everyone in the Underground. It would be like a bunch of infants attacking a Navy SEAL, and then the SEAL "defends" himself by curb stomping babies.
