Master of Magic. Civilization, but I'm a wizard! My younger self was just like "Fuck yeah!" It had a lot of bugs and was not well balanced, but I loved it. My favorite custom wizard pick was Myrran, Warlord, rest in Life magic, Dark Elf race. Restart if my spell picks didn't include Crusade. Ultra-Elite troops who all have ranged attacks and the highest mana generation I need the game: Yes, please.
I also played other strategy games, lIke Civ, Colonization, and Master of Orion. Master of Orion 2 was in my top 3 games for years, until I discovered Paradox's grand strats.
The first mechwarrior was the best in the series. Read the news and fight to win. Everything that followed despite tech improvements weren't as truly open ended.

I think the first game I ever owned was Street Fighter II for the DOS (not the Super though. The version where you can only select half of the characters). Though it was part of a christmas gift with 6 different DOS games, including SFII, Monkey Island 2, Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail, Zool, Lotus and... something else I don't remember. Good times. Monochromatic times, but good times.
SFII is still in my vidya 3x3, though of course, as SSFIIT.

Of course, I played it in the arcades and eventually on the SNES, and currently on the PS3 and sometimes on mame, but yeah, the first game I owned was SFII for the DOS in a blue diskette, that came with a beautiful in-depth color guide that, while beautifully printed, DIDN'T list the combinations, when I was, like, 6 or 7 or so. And I played it in a small monochromatic compaq laptop with a small purple trackball that was comfy as fuck. And I remember it fondly.

I played so much liero in high school. it was me and another guy who played versus. we got to a point where, once hte map was blasted open, we ended up hanging on one side of the map each and sniping each other off the minimap with the gauss gun.. I just loved how your understanding of the weapons progressed with your skill. When we started spikeballs was too OP, had to be banned. Laser was shit. at the end laser was OP and had to be banned and spikeballs was so babbys first no one even looked twice. When you start to realize that bazooka and shotgun have their place.. such a fun game

The Krynn Trilogy was amazing up to the very last moment, but I didn't like the FR Quadrology that much. Pool of Radiance was OK, Curse of Azure Bonds was the strongest part, Secret of Silver Blades was bland and disappointing while Pools of Darkness was off the wall retarded.
Unlimited Adventures was GOTC still for how robust it was as a dev toolkit.Buck Rogers games were super good.
