Has anyone played Squad yet? Is killing dune coons better than ever before?
>>
>>320700152
I played it, Insurgency is still better.
>>
>>320700152
I'm also interested in people's opinions, how does it differ from PR? Does the gameplay and shooting feel similar?

>>320700265
How so? I prefer PR over insurgency, would I like Squad more?
>>
I already own Arma 3 and Insurgency. Why should I get this?
>>
>>320700512
bump cause I wanna know

>>320700265
>>320701040
Insurgency's maps are too small most of the time and the pubs are usually completely fucking braindead, and it still feels like a glorified sourcemod, but it's not bad, I just like PR a lot more over insurgency.

As for Arma, I have a hard time finding and staying in a group cause holy shit pub servers have been fucking awful since Arma 1, and probably OFP but I didn't play OFP online cause I didn't reallu have internet at the time. That being said I still hop on with some friends for some small ops every once in awhile.
>>
Still no Insurgency style game where you play as Cops & Gangsters

if only there was an Insurgency/Sub Rosa crossover

honestly tired of the military shit, especially in the desert
>>
>>320701040
you build bases and defenses on the fly

doesn't seem as clunky as ARMA but has more scale than Insurgency
>>
>>320702296
anon, OFP servers were like a dream come true. People took that game very seriously on the co-op mission side, which made for very fun matches. I only wish it translated over to ARMA because i haven't found a server that touches ofp servers in all three of the ARMA games, and I refuse to play with the milsim fags at shacktac or other groups.
>>
>>320701040
This is pretty much the crossover of the two.

Functionality and scale of Arma 3 (at least when they add vehicles) with the gameplay fluidity of Insurgency.

They make you build supply lines to be able to resupply ammo from the command posts you build and someone has to actually drive the ammo truck so it can be ambushed.

There is going to be tanks and helis at least, not sure about fighter jets or bombers.
>>
>>320700152

It's basically ArmA 2 combined with Insurgency.

It's pretty good, best teamwork I've ever had in an FPS with people I don't know. Massive room for improvement, but thus far it's not bad.

Not to sound generic, but more snipers will make this game, even if it's 1/2 per team. Me and my Squad fortified a small hamlet and held it for an entire round, our squad alone had more points than the entire enemy team, but one sniper could have given us some serious trouble.
>>
>>320702845
You mean like SWAT?
>>
It is pretty fucking great.

Runs better than ARMA ever did, handles well, and almost everyone has a mic.

I've spent most of my time playing on the 2fj server. Several guys that play there like to grab random FOB points and build castles.

Defending a FOB against angry chechans has been the most fun I've had in a while

Fools Road = best map
>>
>>320701040
PR is what you play when you get tired of playing the same 3 maps on Arma and when you don't have 90 or so friends to play with at anytime you please.

Its going to take like a year to get the amount of vehicles and weapons PR has done, and PR is still free. So maybe when Squad gets hit down to 20 dollars it will be worth, but testing an EA game is never worth the time.

Still better than Insurgency, not as good as Arma but getting into Arma is way harder. You need to find a server/game mode you like and then hopefully find people to play with. In Squad you just press play.
>>
I'd be up to play ArmA 3 with some modifications which are a nice modern setting but I always run into a bunch of faggots who create a kind of inner friend circle bullshit.

>>
>>320709235
I've already put 17 hours into it and I've got zero regrets.
17 hours = 1020 minutes
130 minutes = average movie length
1020/130 = 7.846153846153846

A matinee is $9 - $11 per ticket at AMC.

Let's just assume 10 bucks.

7.846153846153846 * 10 = 78.46153846153846 USD

I've had more fun playing this than watching any movie I've ever seen and I still plan on spending a shitload of time as they add more content.

Our hobby is fucking cheap, guy.

Arma is still the king of autis- I mean milsims

Honestly, this game is pointless at the moment. If they update it with all the features that PR has (going to take at least two years) then it takes over PRs place, but otherwise its not worth the money at all.

Nah, thats pretty much the fastest you can deploy that weapon. The L.A.W's aren't being produced anymore so the ones you get these days have been sitting in a storage possibly for decades and they behave exactly like they have. Expanding the tube feels like there's sahara's worth of sand in there, sights are loose and the trigger is stiff as fuck and you have to push it really fucking hard in order to fire the weapon.

Insurgency is like 2 bucks right now, putting squad and insurgency content against each other and compare price then insurgency wins for the moment.

Squad might get better once vehicles and more content is put in but right now it's pretty barebones.

Agreed, don't get why people even compare them. It's more like Red Orchestra 2 if anything.

The thing about it is that it has semi-realistic gameplay but an arcade game-mode. If we're going to go into specifics there is no game that is completely realistic. I've seen some complain that people go down in 2-3 hits, but I think it's more because if you did take that many hits, you'd be combat ineffective, while in ArmA you can revive someone and have them up and running minutes later.

And in Project Reality there is no aim sway so instead bullets just go all over the place and you have to focus your fire.

Not that any of this is inherently bad, I'm just pointing out that all of the games are semi-realistic with their own compromises.

But it if you love PR. Otherwise wait until it's better.
There's almost no content right now, and 3d audio is completely fucked. I have a decent pair of headphones and sometimes it's almost impossible to figure out the general direction I'm being shot from.

I had a 4770k with a 680 gtx and it ran ArmA 3 really well with high/ultra settings and 10k draw distance. I can even run ArmA 3 quite smoothly on medium settings with a 5 year old i3 and a R7 250...

690/3570K 4.2Ghz, and no you don't, not with AI. Without? Sure.

It's widely known how badly optimized it is.

I played Altis multiplayer wasteland exclusively, which had AI missions.
>>
>>320719301
I didn't play Wasteland much, but wasn't that like 5-10 AI max per mission? From what I recall Wasteland was heavily PvP oriented. Now if you had said Invade & Annex, I'd have been surprised, assuming you're near the town that is the objective.

Try populating a small town with AI patrolling, and standing guard in buildings and watch towers.

At around 30-40 AI I guarantee you'll be playing at ~50fps with occasional drops.

So you're playing a mod which has a mostly empty map and trying to say it represents ArmA.

Try playing any CTI or king of the hill missions.

>get the game last night

all this operating and communicating, sheeeeiiiit

Was just telling you my experience friend. Yes it was mainly PVP. only a few AI per mission, and majority of them soldiers.

best of both worlds. arma scale, insurgency gunplay but better

fuck off kike shill

It's selling so much because IT'S A TACTICAL SHOOTER FROM THE CREATORS OF PROJECT REALITY. The thing is, the guys developping squad are the turbokike rejects of the PR team, and none of these kids have actually played PR.
>boohoo Refractor 2 looks old

>Is PR2 dead?
Yes. The team making it had an internal rift, whether to monetize the game, or keep it free. The guys who wanted to charge shekels are now making Squad. The ones who wanted to keep it free are still working on PR.
