>>
Progress is progress.
>>
>>320680296
it's already dead
>>320680571
>progress
meanwhile real cinema is filmed on 70mm still
kill yourself razer kid
>>
>>320680975
>real cinema is filmed on 70mm still

why haven't they switched to digital?
>>
>>320680296
only reason 3d didn't take off is that it was expensive and didn't really add enough to the experience to be worth the money, plus lack of content.
if vr addresses that, it won't be a short-lived fad.
>>
>>320680975
70mm is dead man. Tarantino had to use his roadshow as a bargaining chip and it's only showing in a hundred or so theaters out of thousands.
>>
>>320681415
Costs, and the Jews that run Hollywood don't like change. Change isn't guaranteed profits.
>>
>>320681897
Where the fuck have you been? Digital is far cheaper than film. The studios are the ones that pushed theaters to switch to digital. It's the directors that convinced Kodak to keep a factory open to still shoot on film.
>>
>>320680296
So 3D movies were invented in 2008? Were you born retarded?
>>
With film you have to make your acting and shots count.

With digital you can just put in more harddrives to keep recording.

Film > digital

Digital is also way cheaper but the cameras can be pricy.
>>
>>320682081
>Where the fuck have you been?
Getting myself wildly misinformed apparently. I really need to stop hanging around with certain people.
>>
>>320682312
Yeah, you should go back to reddit and stay there, faggot.
>>
>>320681897
War is profitable as fuck and we all know that war, war never changes.
>>
>>320682393
What or where is reddit?
>>
>>320682393
>le reddit boogeyman
You're a special kind of stupid.
>>
>>320680296
I's already dead.
Too expensive and it doesn't add new good features.
But this only apply to Video game Industry.
There is a lot of demo using VR where they show deep sea or they put you on top of a mountain or this kind of thing. So pretty dead in videogame industry, but I can totally see this use in museum for instance like you pay a few dollar and you get to see some kind of reconstituion or in a travel agency.

Literally less useful than a Wii. No one is talking about it already.
It will be the best sex toy for ages to come, though.
>>
>>320682594
Wii was the best selling console last gen so not sure what your point is

it's frustrating that it comes with so many limitations. it seems like designers are taking lots of established game genres, and squishing them down to fit VR. once being inside of VR is no longer a novelty, will there be anything left?

>tfw fucked eyes and 3D never works for me
>VR would probably be the same story

A problem I see is that it doesn't look any easier to interact with a game with the thing on. Getting on par with a gamepad or M+KB isn't trivial. So we might end up with the VR headsets existing as an alternative to a monitor, which I think can be kinda cool.

OTOH, as a sex toy, I think it can be great.
>>
>>320680296
if NX uses it that will be the only time it will actually be profitable and then it will quickly die just like motion controls
>>
>>320680296
anybody who doesn't understand that VR is the next step in human evolution is a moron. shitters on /v/ are just scared of the status quo changing

its you who don't understand faggot
>>
>>320683125
As soon as you don't need to strap some stupid shit to your face then and only then will VR even be considered the next step until then it's just another gimmick like motion controls and 3d
>>
>>320683269
Dammit, why aren't we doing holograms?
>>
Just got my first hands-on VR experience today, my local library had a thing going on where you could pay 5 bucks to visit the great libraries of the world with VR headsets, and I have to say, I'm convinced there's potential there for vidya, but nothing too actiony. Maybe puzzle games, or slow-paced adventure games. VNs obviously are going to benefit a huge deal from that.

porn. #1 and the reason it's already a gauranteed success and here to stay this time. you think Valve has been rapidly relaxing guidelines on pornographic content just coincidental? no. porn. VR porn. more money than God.
travel and events (the reason facebook bought in big and early, because they want to be the one to get licensing with major ball sport associations - HUGE money, legitimately maybe even rivaling the porn with the right exclusivity deals).
education, HUGE delayed impact nobody is prepared for and we're going to have to fight to see the best effect (the same battle which has already pretty much failed with regards to the internet in general, but VR will be an opportunity to reignite).
many workplace applications, even more and more as AR improves. even these early low-res full immersion experiences will be valuable to many industries, and not just obvious ones with visual emphasis (art of all kinds, architecture/design, surgery, etc.), but also possibility for a major early disruption in retail (digital showrooms that actually supercede the physical ones).
>>
>>320680296
You know whats funny?
90% of devs still struggling to make good games for 16 buttons
How could you give them VR and expect something good?
>>
>>320683323
has anyone actually made a successful hologram? you only ever see that shit in movies
>>
>>320683125
Wow, the Silicon Valley delusions of grandeur are thick enough to cut with an HDMI cable.
>>
>>320683125
>next step in human evolution
Yeah, because touchscreens made us a much better species, right?
>>
>>320683493
People will die.

As soon VR gets popular some koreans are going to be found dead wearing goggles playing a waifu simulator.
Shit is going to be crazy in the next few years

This is going to be a pretty big deal.
>>
>>320685043
That and people walking out their windows playing VR Sports. It's gonna be Wii-remote-in-TV X100.
>>
>>320684546
Depends on how you want to define successful really. There was the 2pac "hologram" that's just an image projected onto a 2d screen giving an illusion of a 3d person on stage. Same way they do the Miku concerts and similar. Also google pops up videos of concept designs that seem to require AR set-ups.

Well the motion control thing was about 10 years so we probably have 10 years of strapping bullshit to your face.
