Just picked this up, what am I in for /v/?
A good video game
>>320677865
same here. head good stuff mainly Im hyped
>>320677865
A Hideo Kojima Game
>>320677865
Immaculate gameplay but horrible story if you picked it up based on your experience with past MGS games
Honestly this is a game I'd actually recommend to non-MGS fans over MGS fans
>>320678106
>I play games for the story
>>320677865
I great video game
have fun!
don't get too worried about upgrades. base equipment can complete the game.
upgrade rocket launchers though.
>>320677865
Enjoyment followed by disappointment
>>320678561
>playing a MGS game for anything other than the story
You're probably a stupid fucking frogposter in disguise
>>320677865
>console version
friendly reminder this is an 18+ board
goty
>>320677865
Extremely good gameplay with extremely repetitive missions.
Also less focus on story and dialogue than previous games.
>Just picked up the day one edition almost 4 months after launch
>>320677865
an unfinished game
>>320678561
There's story, and then there's deep fried shit. The plot in MGSV is the latter, in the sense that you can't help but have your experience ruined somewhat by it's presence.
OP got it too late. Konami has fucked it with all the micro transaction updates that move the high end gear into online only development.
>>320677865
awesome gameplay but a mediacore story compared to the series but an awesome story overall
2 thirds of a solid 8/10
>Snake, your mission is to wipe out every child currently occupying the african village of Bwaya La Masa.
>The contract comes from a PF located to the south of Cyprus, in the Seychelles waters.
>That's right, Boss. It's me, Miller.
>Don't leave any trace of their existence.
Holy shit Kaz.
good gameplay, shit story
>>320679667
Followed by enjoyment, followed by disappointment, followed by enjoyment
High: All of Afghanistan
Low: Mid-Africa
High: End of chapter 1, beginning of chapter 2
Low: Mid-chapter 2, forced side-ops, Venom tweest
High: Quiet Exit, truth tapes, appreciation of the story in retrospect
The lows could have been fixed if theyd had time to finish it.
>>320682084
The start of chapter 2 made me think the story was actually going to get around to linking up with Metal Gear 1. For the whole game I was waiting for the part where you stop using the mother base in the ocean that was never referenced in later games, and start making the MG1 mother base in South Africa.
>>320682427
that's where venom goes. Walker gears become those metal gears.
Cipher recovers Sahelanthropus, which becomes REX.
Probably the best sandbox I have ever played
>>320682591
>Cipher recovers Sahelanthropus
No they don't. Stop making shit up.
Don't worry about extracting soldiers less than an A or B. There, I just saved you hours and hours of time.
Also, Fulton fucking everything.
I like the online but not a huge fan of FOB.
>day one edition
>just picked this up
Yeah, right. Nice try, buddy.
>>320682826
Got so bored of the game I couldn't bring myself to make and disarm a nuke
>Forever 40/42
>>320682826
It's literally the worst version of "open world" that I've ever seen implemented. GTAIII had more shit going on in it's world than MGSV.
>>320682826
fucking casual
>>320677865
A game with some pretty good mechanics, with a buttload of repeating missions where you do the same objectives over and over, and some good ideas for its plot, but that completely shits the bed by the end, with some really underutilised characters or changing certain characters personalities to fit its plot
>>320682826
>Probably the best sandbox I have ever played
It is among the worst open world games in existence. 96% of the entire game world is completely empty with 0 enemies, 0 secrets, 0 anything.
>>320683001
GTA is literally just NPC's walking and cars moving around. The only reason it's considered a good world is cause the whole point of that over rated game is steal those cars and kill those people. MGSV doesn't need to take place in a fucking city idk why people always cry about this.
>>320683075
>>320683001
I don't get it, I still find crazy new stuff to do after hundreds of hours of roaming the desert
How do you define a good sandbox?
>>320682826
I think it's worth pointing out that most of those hours played consist of sitting in a helicopter or running from point A to point B with nothing in between.
>>320683184
>I still find crazy new stuff to do after hundreds of hours of roaming the desert
Maybe if you stumble on the 4% of the map that is assigned to have enemy or item spawns.
>>320683184
literally how? side ops are the same thing over and over again, bases are the same, little to no variety
>>320683184
>I still find crazy new stuff to do after hundreds of hours of roaming the desert
No you fucking don't, Kojidrone.
>Oh look I found a new rock in this area that has no programmed enemy spawns, item spawns or even wildlife spawns. Like 90% of both maps.
>>320683184
there is none.
Open world is a fucking retarded gimmick and has never improved any game ever.
>>320683405
I'm not talking side ops
I mean actually going out into the world and seeing how much C4 I can stick to stuff.
The variety comes from the different ways you can do stuff
>>320683162
GTAIII is various NPCs walking, some enemy factions, lots of cars to drive, places to buy things, Easter eggs and a reactive police force that scales up it's difficulty that longer you fight them. This was all in 2001. MGSV has some flowers and some animals, with a few bases that have like 3 guards in them.
>>320683526
oh so you're autistic
i see
>>320683643
What is just cause
Half a game padded with a shitload of "this guy puts us one step closer to CIPHER" missions. Great mechanics, shame about the game they're put to use in.
a game with a larger open world and a game that didn't shit on over 20 years of story telling by opening up a larger plot hole
>>320677865
Some cool shit but with a story like those told by a rambling uncle who may have touched some kids back in the 80's but he's better now.
>>320677865
A good game if you do not care about the plot, an unfinished piece of shit that will leave you terribly dissapointed if you do.
>>320677865
pain
>>320683036
How many times did you fall asleep?
>>320677865
i'll save you time on the first 40+ replies
>dank worst game eva may may xD xD xD
it's easily the best controlling mgs yet and the story has a lot of cool characters. the story is as big as you want, as most is in the cassette tapes.
it's an open world game so everything good and bad goes with that. boss battles are surprisingly good though
>>320678668
this
starter tranq gun and olive garb are the boss
it`s imperative to get the legendary gunsmith though so you can customize guns, mainly so that you can slap suppressor on sniping rifles.. especially the tranq rifle because the development of sniping rifles with noise suppressors takes a shit ton of grinding and you end up getting them fairly late game.
>>320683604
>with a few bases that have like 3 guards in them.
it also has mechas and numerous ways to mess around that does not involve a gun to the face
your post is invalid
>>320684894
>it also has mechas
No walker gears exist in the normal game world. They are mission exclusive. That goes for tanks, too.
>numerous ways to mess around that does not involve a gun to the face
Yeah, like tranqing them all. Or blowing them up. All options are equally easy, considering how open and understaffed every minor outpost is.
