Then hes just easy.
One downside with Zero is that enemy weaknesses aren't always obvious and since you get stuff like double jump and a sword that reflects projectiles, some skills have multiple bosses to use on.

Speaking of wich, i re-played from 6 to 3- (yeah went backwards).
At 5 i had all the pieces for the laser and still failed, worst result. Same for the jihad space pod. and zero went rogue (and it was a zero run only in all 4, 5 and 6. so it fucked me over a bit).
While the only good thing that came out of that shitfest was that theme music. How does it exaclty determintes the succes of the beam / pod? same thing in x3. How can you avoid killing OR kill bit/byte? also seems to work at random

Don't they usually go up the more you progressed through the time limit and were also affected by your hunter level (X started at B and Zero at SA)? Didn't they only give upgrade gear after you wasted like half the time you had to gather the pieces to destroy the colony/build the rocket?

It's been a while but way back, I find it annoying that I have to save some asshole just to upgrade X or Zero. If I'm not fast enough or does not have the right weapon/tool, npc dies and you can't save him again.

That's the thing. The levels do go up as you progress, but the also lower based on your rank/actoins.
Your rank is affected by so many variables in weird ways that it fucks with the levelling system even more. Reploids rescued,time taken, damage taken, deaths, all of that screw with how the game figures out your rank and the boss levels. The only thing that's garunteed is that they'll shoot up to 99 on certain difficulties/the last levels. Though I can't exactly remember which difficulty does that.

One of those guys can die, if I remember correctly. And the other requires the Phoenix virus effect on blizzard wolfgang's stage to even OPEN the route to get save the npc. and THEN you need to do some tight jumping with a power-up or some shit.
X6 is only good if you wanna challenge yourself with bullshit dickery.Still fun though. Zero probably plays best in that one. Toss up between that and X4
