When will Nintendo fans realise that it's not about what exclusives each other platform has, it's about what the Wii U doesn't have. This year alone:
No Witcher
No MGS
No Bloodborne
No Fallout
Besides the games, it's just an objectively shit console that is disgustingly underpowered (can't run the Binding of Isaac DLC?), region locked, and built around the gamepad which is now indisputably seen as a terrible idea, at least Microsoft ditched Kinect. Metroid is now dead, they don't want to make a 3D Mario, and Zelda and Smash Bros are in decline. Nintendo fan or not, this is the worst Nintendo console.

There are pleny of Xbone/PS4 only games and PS4/PC only, and a lot of cross-gen games and ports on the PS4 for those who never got to buy a PS3 like me, but I'm sure you don't want to count those

It's weird for me that WiiU lacks on good couch co-op games, I got one mostly for that and I find my friends wanting to play co-op on my PS4 way more often. We have a couple of Diablo3/Borderlands2 characters we only play together, a lot of Helldivers and a lot of N++
We aren't fighting fans so Smash or the plethora of PS4 fighting games don't do anything for us. Last homeconsole marioKart game I enjoyed playing was double-dash, I think it went awry after that with 12players and even more bullshit items, not to mention less fun drifting. The only good kart games are the portable ones, for me at least.

I got one on launch since I wanted to play multiplats on it. I also don't own a PS2 or PS3 so it was a very simple and easy choice. I didn't expect any exclusives for a while like pretty much any gen's starting years
I'm pretty hype for everything coming out next year, it's too many to remember off the top of my head, I always forget a handful of games I'm sure to buy. Can't believe Nier Automata is a thing, and I'll get 300+ hours out of Persona5/FF15 I'm sure. MHX will probably be released on the west next year too.

I know, they are just not that fun compared to others. We played all of those (but Kirby) and it was fun for the first couple hours but then it got boring.
When we have the platformer cold sweats we always dive into N++ co-op competitions. Level design and mechanics are way more fun than any of nintendo's stuff for us. It's also very easy to build fucked-up levels, I usually make one before they come and watch them suffer for an hour.
