Just hit 100 hours, which is surprising consideration I haven't invested that kind of time into a game since Gothic 2 in 2004, and normally get bored of "open world" games around the 20 hour mark.

Legitimately don't understand why everyone is sperging out over F4 considering how far NV strayed from the franchise.

Seems to me there are two types of people who play this game; cowadooty faggots who just go around in power armor to try and be iron man, and people who go full combat armor with light frame armor mods and polymer composite.

The former just charges into every combat and spouts "this is boring!", while the other sneaks around and takes out everyone they can from a distance, then silence combat shotguns everyone instance the building the mission requires you to clear out.

The latter playstyle is what keeps you coming back. I legitimately hope F5 doesn't have any power armor whatsoever.

About 50 hours. 40 to get over my years long new world blue balls and realize there's no point to exploration. Check for bobblehead, magazine or unique gear. Don't use any of it, just collecting. Might be a good side quest of scene story but none of it matters. Not even the illusion that it matters. No real good fights after level 30. Once you have your best guns, you're set for the entire game. No challenge at all and the scenery is more interesting than FO3 but the story is just as dead.

It was all explorer's high. When it wore off with 1/3 of the map unexplored I shrugged, pushed the main story quests and laughed at how rushed and limp the ending was. This is the future of gaming? Do as little game as possible, it'll sell on brand alone, buy the DLC? Jesus.

i dont understand people who play rockstar open world games more than once and might be dicking around online.
every challenges and activities is the same with smaller time/bullet pools, higher enemies number. the world is literally static, no strategy to anything whatsoever. The only good thing about them is the storyline and some unique missions, technology too but I'm not autistic enough to try out everything for that shit. In any bethshit games you gain power, can mod them until they are irregcognizable and generally have more diverse playstyle.

kinda on a break from it playing battlefront, star citizen and rainbow 6 seige

i got it modded perfectly though its insanely awesome
its 1x dmg to and from the player so no bullshit bulletsponges and you can die at a moments notice and its really fun and great, but kinda burned out a bit rerolling my character like 50 times trying to get the damages and mods tuned just right

why not? Again, CIT is supposedly the best of America's academia. Since costs nothing to store more test subjects, there is no reason not to continue to do so should future researchers require unmutated, prewar DNA. There's a finite source of that, and it costs nothing to keep it protected.

Yes, BUT we're running with the assumption that CIT at least pretends to be professional, correct? In that case, any professional or self-respecting researcher would protect something they had a finite source of (again, prewar DNA) in the event that someone in the future might need it. Yes, they can just clone Shaun, but the point is that there's no negatives to keeping a backup reserve around, especially when again it costs NOTHING to preserve it. Vault 111 is locked, and has it's own geothermal and nuclear power sources. It effectively runs itself and CIT doesn't even need to go onto the surface to get to it thanks to the relay.

Again: Vault 111 is completely self-sufficient since there's no staff inside it anymore. There's no cost to keep it running, especially when there's geothermal power.

I never claimed they were good. They could unfreeze people to turn them into FEV abominations. But any smart organization wouldn't deliberately destroy a finite resource of something valuable.

I don't pay too much attention to the play time on the save, but somewhere between 2 & 3 days.

I've got TPB version with the first patch they offerred. Am I missing anything huge/essential if I don't upgrade to the next patch?

I'm not using mods because I'm too fucking lazy to config that shit. Now that I'm past using/looting pipeshit I find the game more enjoyable.

Completed man quest and a handful of side tasks at the 35 hour mark. Fast traveled everywhere when possible. Felt apathic towards Fallout 4. I'm actually happy with Fallout 4's potential. So much more we can actually do now, including localized physics stuff like elevators and fully-moving trains. you could have a train heist mission, or recreate the final scene from Fury Road.

Not 100% sure there. There's rumors going around that Bethesda's going to let us add new animation behaviors since Microsoft apparently bought Havok for them, so if that's true it'll be easier. If not, making them an arcless grenade will still work out pretty well.

The vertibirds are actually mountable NPCs, like horses. They can operate without a pilot. Same with power armor actually. They were going all out with mounts this time actually. Even the original plans for the game had you riding Liberty Prime. A train itself would be a big scripted object rather than a rideable NPC.

Over 100 hours. Started modding about 3/4 through, because the Textures on the power armor, (Even the best versions type F and MkVI) looked fucking horrible. The fucking rust is there even after I painted over it what the fuck. Shit looks disgusting.

Plus, the fucking Gatling Laser uses a new Fusion Core EVERY FUCKING TIME you stop shooting, so you have like 80 different Fusion Cores all at different %'s in your inventory, so I modded that bullshit out. Fucking shit they dropped the ball on that. It's like they didn't even test their guns. They probably didn't actually.

The game is fun, but it's so terribly written at times (Everything based around muh son), and the main story has almost 0 choice other than which faction you go with...

I'm almost at the end of my rope here. Games really boring now. Think I'll finish exploring the glowing sea today and start a new character. Maybe a BoS drone or something.

I reached level 50, completed the (shitty) main quest and got all the weapons/armor full upgraded.

Overall I got more playtime out of it than any other game this year, even though you have to play it like diablo just looking for loot. It is very lacking in the writing/quests/non-combat related content.

42 hours across 2 saves. I always seem to finish the game after starting for the second time, that's like my signature autism move. I didn't finish this time though, because I didn't really see the point in doing so. I haven't encountered a single interesting quest, character, piece of loot etc. to keep me going desu. Honestly even Fallout 3 has had some curious things here and there, but this shit was just so bland and dull which I guess shouldn't surprise me after playing Skyrim.
I always liked how Bethesda always pour life into the most useless of loot like tin cans and shit in their games and it's done even better in Fallout 4, but literally everything else is a huge turn-off. And the game's not even that accessible for dudebros, how the fuck did it sell so well.

Yeah we get it, there are some things about Fallout 4 that feel like Borderlands, but those are really fucking different games still. Borderlands is more arcade-y, there's no inventory, no dialogues, looting is far less complex, the world is essentially a bunch of small half-empty locations, ammo is, well, auto-replenishable etc.
Both are really shit though

the "MUH SON" only gets better as you go on.
the only role you can play in Fallout 4 is as Nate or Nora, two people that vary in only that one was a soldier and the other was a lawyer or something. both are always willing to kill and never really have a passive way to solve a dispute. you know how in New Vegas you could forgive Benny, the guy who shot you in the head? well in this game you'll never have the option to forgive the guy who stole your kid, regardless of how much of a well written character he is.
we have a running joke in my group of friends surrounding Nier, where the protag will do horrible shit because "don't care, gotta save Yonah." this game is exactly that, but instead it's "don't care, gotta save Shaun."

tl;dr you aren't missing much and the protag is a fucker no matter what

i'm at around 40ish and am still on my first playthrough. i turned it up from normal to "very hard" around level 30 though, level 40 now, and the goings been a bit slower as a result (though not really much harder, just slower).

i hate the way difficulty settings work in bethesda games. ps4 really needs mod support asap
