Dark Souls 2 doesn't really have a hard mode. I could just roll a Vig+Str fucker with heavy armor and be fine unless I'm forced to PvP.

Well since you don't have to do anything specific except playing an hour on max difficulty without dying... obviously just pick up Dark Souls 2 and just spend an hour in the character creation and you're set.
