It's more of a maniac twin stick shooter while Issaac is a more methodical collect em up.
RNG will still make or break you, but it's more about enemy layouts rather than getting the right items.

Quite different but it could be better in some peoples eyes I think. At lot more fast paced and drops don't stick forever. There is also a level up mechanic which doesn't exist in BoI.

Isaac is extremely slow compared to these, a "good" Isaac run is still 30-ish minutes at the very least whereas you can reach the final boss of NT in less than 10 without even really trying.
Isaac feels extremely slow and boring to be honest and you're overreliant on good DMG up items if you want to have anything even remotely resembling fun, otherwise everything will just be a sluggish bullet-sponge-y mess. NT is a lot less dependant on good drops and upgrades and since you can swap weapons on the fly you'll almost never lock yourself into an unfavorable loadout.

Love this one because of how completely outlandish it is compared to anything else on the soundtrack.
It's the only game I've been playing lately. Put over 150 hours in early access and I've already put 30 hours into the vita version. So much better than BoI in my opinion.

Literally all you can do is keep playing it. I'd say the average time to beat the throne the first time is around 25-35 hours so if you suck at first don't worry. Crystal is easy as shit to play,robotis good because you can get strong weapons fast,steroidsis my favorite and is extremely easy to use too you just have to not be dumb and waste ammo.
