The game HAD a chance, until it went under and 2K took over publishing. At that point, they wanted profits ASAP, and shilled the shit out of the monster editions, pre-order bonuses, DLC skins and future character packs. Too bad everyone got bored as shit before the first monster came out, and when it did, it was broken as fuck. They would fix one bug, and cause three more. I think Kraken is still retardedly overpowered since a couple of months ago, and the only people who don't agree are Turtle Rock.

And then they added preorder bonus to their season pass
Also get really old when you get matched up against people who know what they're doing because balance is incredibly fucked up depending on the platform
Almost all monster "montage god©" and streamers are on PS4/XB1, because since hunters cannot aim for shit on these platforms, goliath just punch them to death and win
On the opposite, PC is where Caira reliably hit her healing bombs, Hank shield everyone, and assault/trapper will litteraly never get off your ass so even a T3 win is unlikely
So playing monster essentially become a game of praying the RNG god not to be put against a premade

It's not like they have anything to lose other than the already fallen hype. They try to keep it up with monthly challenges (grind a specific character or map so you can test statistics for us) to unlock some skins, and it seems to keep about 500 people at least. It's doing much better on Xbone last I checked, but that's like saying PS4's second best game is cleaning the dust off of your game shelf.

I feel the console versions are the worst because after getting knocked around, it's a lot harder to get your bearings again with a controller and the FPS drops are fucking insane. It's not just a preferential thing, this is shit that gives the monster a distinct advantage and will fuck you violently.
It sucks because on paper, this is exactly the kind of experimental title that consoles are in dire need of.

It had potential, but it runs out of content pretty quickly and on release they went for the complete 'price gauge' business model of full price AAA release price for the base game and high cost micro-transactions for the rest of the content. Oh and the 'season pass' was hilariously labelled to make people think they would get all the DLC as it comes out when it was just a play on 'Hunting Season' without delivering all content.
It's like they figured they didn't have enough content to hold people's attention so they ripped off suckers for everything they could before interest dies down. If they priced it a bit better they might have gotten a bigger adoption rate and ended up with a longer lasting community. What they got was a few people who bought into the hype then lost interest due to the low content.
